Full Moon in Cancer and Cardinal T-Cross (January 4, 2015)

We start of 2015 with another Cardinal slugging festival with the Full Moon in its own sign transiting at 14 degrees opposing Sun conjunct Pluto ( 13 degrees Capricorn) and squaring Uranus at 12 degrees Aries. While we aren't dealing with exact degrees we experience another Cardinal T-Cross with bad boys Pluto and Uranus coming down hard on the most sensitive of the Moon Signs.

One one hand, we get another opportunity to transform our lives both individually and globally.  Meanwhile, the North Node in Libra (Aries axis) transits at 15 degrees asking us to bring balance to the situation.  The Nodes represent fate or destiny and with the North Node in Libra, we want justice in some area of our lives. The areas of our lives depend upon where the Full Moon, Sun, Pluto and Uranus transit.

So what energy am I picking up here?  The Full Moon represents the Mother or the Divine Feminine Goddess. She is either the chaste high priestess or the pregnant mother, depending on which symbol you prefer.  Either way, this Moon represents intuition, the need to nurture and be nurtured by others.  This Full Moon represents self-love and self-care in such a big way and most of us are starting off the year feeling frazzled, especially since the exact Uranus-Pluto square lasted from the last week of November until December 28.  Then we'll be at it again, on January 23 and 24th, then from the 19 to the 28th of February when the square is at 14 degrees and the final round (of a 7-part series) from March 11 until the 28 at 15 degrees.

I imagine that we'll revisit themes from the Full Moon in Cancer at 14 degrees when both Uranus and Pluto arrive at that degree in their respective signs.  Could get intense if we don't get the lessons (which by the way, keep repeating themselves while turning up the volume each time around).  So we have the Divine Feminine pitting herself against the established order (Pluto in Capricorn conjunct Sun) and the warrior child or the Great Awakener (Uranus in Aries).  So definitely, mothers, children (most likely teens or tweens) and authority figures create some drama here.  We could even experience inner drama with the energies that represent the inner child, inner mother, and inner authority.  The question is not that this drama won't play out, but how will it play out in each of our lives?

Will we engage in food fights in the media? Will mothers concerned about the health of their children protests the food in public schools (for children who actually get fed) and on the supermarket shelves? Will we hear about an increase in sensitivities and allergies to food (Full Moon in Cancer) or perhaps new research on breast cancer (Pluto in Capricorn and Full Moon in Cancer)? Will we see more police brutality against a certain race in the news (Uranus in Aries squaring Pluto in Capricorn)?  Since Uranus is unpredictable and we're dealing with a Full Moon here, we have plenty of probable scenarios to play around with.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Full Moon in Cancer.  This Moon forces us to take better care of our health and the health of those we love.  But Cancer, although sensitive is still a pushy Cardinal Sign and when mothers especially feel outraged and defend their children or their inner child, expect the tigress to come crashing through the door.  I'm betting that we'll be knee deep if not thigh deep in food issues around January 4 and we'll also feel like we've been hit in the head about "family values" or people waxing on about their mothers and their childhood (good or bad).

In any case, honor your mother, without her, you wouldn't be here reading these words and contemplating the planets.  Besides, it's not time to hurl blame at anyone because we all do the best we can with what we have.  Cancer also represents a mirror or how we reflect out into the world.  If we don't like what stares back at us, time to delve deep into the subconscious and find out what lurks in there. Is anybody home?

Starting this January, I'm offering readings by Skype, MP3 recordings of readings and other goodies.  If you would like a online Natal or Transit chart reading, or intuitive coaching sessions, sign up at Metaphysics for Everyday Living.  I will raise my fees later in 2015, but only after I get up to speed with the new (to me) technology.  Happy 2015!

I highly recommend viewing YouTube videos (on the Moons) by astrologers Kelley Rosano and Verle Debruyne since these two astrologers go in depth.  I watch their videos after I've written my posts so that I have a clear channel with my guidance.

Revisiting Singleton Planets--Alone, but not Lonely

For a woman with a Singleton Venus, oozes charm and unwittingly attracts others.  She might hide herself away like a nun or fear she isn't attractive enough, yet other people think she's beautiful.  Someone with a Singleton Jupiter possesses the luck of the Irish but thinks someone has put a curse on him or her. And so it goes with the Singleton planets in a Natal Chart.

What are Singleton Planets? They are unaspected planets in a Natal Chart, at least they don't form any aspects with other planets, though they might have conversations with asteroids, Moon Nodes or appear in a a prominent place in a chart such as in an angular house.  When we first notice an unaspected planet we might think that the planet is weak in the chart, yet, I have noticed the opposite scenario.  A Singleton planet actually carries more weight in a chart because it arrives in its purist form in that no other planet adds its influences to it.

However, since the planet doesn't aspect other planets, we have little access to it. Singleton planets remind me of planets that fall in the 12th House where they hide from us.  I have a Singleton Venus (which I've written about in previous posts) that falls in my Sixth House and represents one of several retrograde planets in my chart (I also have Saturn and Neptune retrograde).  On one hand, I feel like I have to work hard to look attractive.  When I wore makeup it smeared, didn't often stay in place and I struggled with getting it right (Venus).  I can't stand my thin hair which often frizzes.  And I have ruined clothing, often snagging silk or staining favorite blouses.

And yet, others don't notice these flaws and I often don't see what they see in me.  When I was a teen I subscribed to fashion magazines and envied the models, but at the same time, I'm an aesthetic person so I admire "beautiful people" too especially since my Singleton Venus forms an inconjunct to my Neptune in Scorpio.  Since this Venus falls in my Sixth House, if I don't take care of my health (drink enough water, get rest, exercise and eat healthy) I resemble a hag.  And so a beauty routine is part of my regime and has been since I turned 13 years of age.  While I could go on, I would rather you read another article I wrote on Singleton Planets.

I met a woman on the bus with a Singleton Jupiter.  I was admiring a satchel that she said she found at a thrift store. While that was definitely a "find", something someone with a Jupiter Singleton excels at, this woman gave me the vibe that she considers herself unlucky.  Yet, someone with a Singleton Jupiter seems extremely fortunate to other people.  They are in the right place at the right time and whatever they're doing, we wish we could do.  Yet, Singleton Jupiter people feel like they're often down on their luck.  They don't notice that the Universe is blessing them at every corner because they don't have that awareness.

So what happens is that they complain to others and sometimes act like victims. When they do that, the other people scoff at them.  I mean these are the folks who often have jobs we envy or they buy their first lottery ticket and take home a prize or they always seem to manifest what they desire, though usually in obtuse ways.  Contrarily, they could also come off as intense Polly Annas and scare people with their exuberance (Jupiter) or enthusiasm.  They also learn foreign languages easily and wonder why other people struggle learning new languages.  They love to travel and they fit into whatever culture they visit.  Or they could stand out like a sore thumb such as a tall Swede traveling in Japan.

The point I'm trying to make is that we require an awareness of any Singleton Planets in our Natal Charts or in the charts of our children, friends, parents, lovers, etc.  People with Singleton Planets are not playing mind games with us.  They really lack an awareness of how others see them and witness their lives.  It's like that saying, the right hand doesn't know what the left hand is doing.  And yet, when we dismiss these planets and don't integrate their energies in our lives, we can't reach a place of wholeness and feel like something is missing from our lives (for me that has always been a relationship with a significant other or feeling comfortable in my own skin).

The next step is to look for the Ruler of the Singleton Planet (or in the case of Venus or Mercury, rulers) and see which House it rules and any planets in that house.  So if a person has a Singleton Mars in the Sixth House we look for Aries in the chart.  Perhaps the person has an Aries Ascendant and normally would identify with an Aries persona and themes, except that Mars energy is hidden from this person which could come off as anger issues such as repressed anger or a stormy personality that causes other people to disappear from a room. Yet, they see themselves as peaceful or as nice people.

Also look for the sign and house the Singleton Planets falls in as well as its direction.  A Singleton in retrograde motion gives us even less access to its energy.  And what about a planet that falls in its own sign or an exalted sign as a Singleton?

While we shouldn't spend all our time exploring the Singleton Planets when reading ours or clients' charts, let's not skim over these planets either.  With transformational astrology especially, these Singleton's bring up emotional issues or even wounds (my Venus square my Natal Chiron) that we must address at some point.  And I think it's better to do this as young adults rather than to wait until middle age. And for many years I dismissed my Venus as unimportant not knowing that she gave me an emotional workout behind the scenes. And that's the same for any Singleton Planet.

If you have a Singleton Planet in your Natal Chart (which you can find by running a free chart from any number of websites), don't just stop at this article.  Explore your planet and its themes.  Read other articles and chapters in astrology books on Singleton Planets. And if you find that you're battling with ongoing problems that your other aspects don't explain fully, then see how the Singleton plays a role.  Self-discovery is a gift bestowed on us by unaspected planets.

It's Your Turn Mutables--Saturn Neptune Square

As I already mentioned in my astrological forecast for 2015, people with Natal Planets in Pisces, Gemini, Virgo and Sagittarius are going to experience outer planet transits.  Saturn just moved into Sagittarius, Neptune has been in Pisces for several years and Jupiter moves into Virgo this summer.  This means that three of the five outer planets will be in Mutable Signs so expect lots of movement and a lot of communication.

While we will experience an on-going square with Saturn and Neptune for most of the year with an exact square from November 26 to December 4, we won't experience any Mutable T-Crosses since Saturn will have moved back into Scorpio at the time when Jupiter moves into Virgo.  Then Jupiter takes off like a bat out of Hades gathering speed in momentum.  So this won't feel like a repeat of the 1960s when Uranus and Pluto were both in Virgo, Saturn and Chiron were in Pisces, etc...

We will experience an exact Jupiter-Neptune opposition (I was born with one in Fixed Signs) on September 17 with Neptune in retrograde.  And then Jupiter and Neptune stay within orb of a square until October 7 when they move out of a 5 degree orb.  But we'll get to this bit of news later in the year.  For now, let's take a look at the Saturn-Neptune square which will affect us for most of 2015, with the exception of June 15 through September 18 when Saturn retrogrades back into Scorpio.

As you know Saturn and Neptune have little in common even though the signs that these planets rule form a sextile with each other (Pisces and Capricorn).  Saturn builds structure while Neptune dissolves it.  Saturn honors integrity, responsibility, and maturity, while Neptune looks for escape routes from those things--often like a fish swimming in two directions.  Neptune rules dreams, spirituality, performing arts such as music, photography, dance and cinema while Saturn rules hard work and pragmatism.  Neptune can drown out Saturn's plans and Saturn throws a wet blanket on Neptune's dreams.  So do you see the conflicts here?

My prediction, if I can make one for 2015 focuses on taking a more practical approach to manifesting those big dreams (remember Sagittarius is about expansiveness and thinking in bigger pictures).  Perhaps we must break down those life visions into small obtainable steps. Get out those big wall calendars and white boards and map out those dreams with daily, weekly, and monthly assignments or steps.  Find some practical people to join your team and listen to the voice of reason while also hanging on to your vision/dream.

Squares bring tension and when Saturn gets involved with a square we can expect delays, setbacks, and the stuff that makes us stronger and wiser. For those of you with Sagittarius Sun, Moon or Rising Signs from 0 to 9 degrees, Saturn will bring constrictions to your plans, most likely involving religion, travel, law, foreign relations and higher education.  You might even have problems on the immigration front, especially if you have a history of mental illness or drug addiction or anything to do with the law.  If you work in the entertainment business such as booking musical or theatrical acts you might have problems getting international acts into the country you represent, especially if drugs are involved in some way.

On a lesser scale, those of you with the Sun especially in Sagittarius from 0 to 9 degrees are going to feel exhausted or old in some way.  I remember when Saturn transited in Cancer over a decade ago and my skin was dry and I looked older then when Saturn moved into Leo, my skin became more youthful again.  You might experience delays, constrictions and blockages at work or experience authority figures challenging you every step of the way (such as encountering bureaucratic red tape).  Look to the house where you have your Natal Sun and also Natal Saturn placements, especially if you're Saturn falls in Sagittarius from 0 to 9 degrees.  Saturn is going to feel like a downer during these transits, but take heart because the realism and hard work Saturn brings to you will pay off in the end.

Geminis will experience Saturn opposition.  Again, I see problems and delays with travel, especially long-distance travel, but there could also be learning experiences in the areas of religion, foreign relations, law or academics.  Saturn opposes ideas and ideals and could cause delays in receiving communication.  There could be some oppositions with cousins, siblings or neighbors.  But mainly I see problems with Geminis studying or teaching at universities.  Best to listen more than talk during the opposition transit to a Gemini Sun or Moon.

Pisces have both the Neptune conjunct Sun (or Moon in my case) and square to Saturn in Sagittarius. Do your ideas appear as pie-in-the-sky? What type of realism rather than surrealism can you bring to your life? If you have a problem with alcohol get out of denial and seek some type of intervention, ditto for drug use.  Many of you will bring Saturn's discipline to breaking old habits that include anything with liquid or vapor.  Even though some habits are trendy or legal now in the US, this is not a good time to take up recreational drugs or you could still end up dealing with the law in some way, not to your advantage (such as drinking and driving).  Any planets or transits in Sagittarius cause us to take risks or gamble--not a good idea when Saturn transits in Sagittarius.

Finally, Virgo experiences the square with Saturn, the conjunction with Jupiter (after August) and the opposition with Neptune (not all at one time). Virgo, ask yourself how you wish to be of service in the world? What part of your health requires attention now? Are you getting enough rest or acting like a martyr? How is your work environment? Is it healthy or causing you to feel sick?  The Saturn in Sagittarius square to your Sun at least causes you to feel hopeful and since you're a practical Earth Sign, Saturn gives you a boost in helping you to get organized.  Jupiter in your Sign brings boons in whatever house it transits in your Natal Chart but Saturn brings restrictions or at least the feeling of restrictions even if they are self-imposed or unfounded (Neptune in Pisces).

I just covered the Sun, Moon and Rising Signs in Mutable Signs, but other planets in those signs will experience movement and transmutation too.  The good news is that life will never be boring with three outer planets traveling in Mutable Signs, but the bad news is we're all going to have to adapt and become as flexible as Olympic gymnasts.  People who already have several Mutable Sign planets in their charts will have an easier time with this.  Those of you with a lot of planets in Fixed Signs are going to kick and scream your way through 2015, especially after Jupiter leaves Leo in August.  Cardinals you have already taken a beating and are well on your way to transformation.  You actually get a bit of a rest after the last Uranus-Pluto square unless you have your Sun, Moon or AC in 12 to 15 degrees.

New Moon in Capricorn/Winter Solstice (December 21)--Talking Business

The New Moon at 0 degrees Capricorn, coinciding with the Solstice (December 21), has some of us getting down to business (most likely completing projects from the past year), and others getting back to old fashion family values as we experience the holiday season.

In addition we experience a Capricorn triple conjunction with Venus, Mercury and Pluto at 12 degrees squaring Uranus in Aries.  And the Moon and Sun conjunct Mercury (6 degrees). We could see a lot of father figures suppressing youth with the attitude, "This is for your own good."  Is this an episode from Father Knows Best or autocratic behavior.  Some of us aren't going to like feeling treated like a child and will rebel (Uranus in Aries).

First planetary business of December 21st includes Venus in Capricorn forming a sextile with Chiron in Pisces, then before the Sagittarius Moon goes void-of-course (4:34 a.m. PST), it forms a fire trine with Jupiter in Leo giving us a burst of enthusiastic can-do energy.  Uranus goes Direct later in the day, followed by the Sun moving into Capricorn at 3:03 p.m. (PST), the Moon arriving in Capricorn two and half hours later and the New Moon occurs ten minutes later.

So what this looks like to me is that we begin our day on a fiery enthusiastic start, feel foggy for the middle period and then sober up by the later hours, especially around the Solstice.  Where I live in the Northern Hemisphere, I honor the Winter Solstice usually by walking a labyrinth in the south part of the city.  I also honor the creatures that I see in my walk through the park and honor the bare naked trees as they sleep until spring when new life appears.

Since the New Moon occurs at 0 degrees Capricorn, it begins a new and powerful cycle. Some people might want to drink while the Moon is either in Sagittarius or void-of-course before the New Moon.  And if you are one of those people, drink only one or two glasses at the most of alcohol, otherwise, you'll experience one heck of a hangover when the Moon sobers up in Capricorn.  Also you don't want to begin this New Moon cycle with a foggy brain.

This powerful New Moon is perfect for getting a business in order, for developing relationships with customers or clients with lasting results and for even launching a new business (just watch out for the Uranus-Pluto Square and the Capricorn Moon's aspects to both Uranus (square) and Pluto (conjunction).  (We do get a reprieve from the Uranus-Pluto square when Pluto moves one degree the last 4 days of December meaning we won't experience the exact square on New Year's Eve).

Securing more harmonious family relationships is encouraged now too.  Many of us have gone through transformation to the point where we have lost our footing and even lost sight of our roots.  While we are essentially reborn as new people, our family of origin might not understand this transformation and treat us as the people we once were.  This could cause stressful situations because we want to grow and anchor in our new selves and while everyone has gone through some shade of transformation, not everyone has this awareness.  Therefore, I ask that you assert yourself in a gentle way.  For instance, if you recently became vegetarian and you show up at a family dinner where the roast is the centerpiece, refrain from going into a lecture about a plant-based diet.  Trust me, old fashion values will trump any progressive ideals at this time.

Own your choices and stick by them, but don't push others to change and understand that they have some catching up to do with you and this isn't going to happen during the holidays.  Save those talks for the slower part of 2015.  For now, smile and let insults or snipes to roll of your back.  Understand that people come from a fearful conservative place with this New Moon.  People and the media wax on about family values now and you might see so many Norman Rockwell paintings that you can barely control your gagging reflex.

Take heart though because those images can also trigger deep childhood wounds, especially from events that occurred near the holiday seasons of the past.  Don't ignore these emotions, lovingly release them and forgive yourself and others.  Venus in Capricorn which forms a sextile with Chiron helps us to do this healing and many of the emotional wounds which show up in the body as dis-ease also have a chance of healing now.  Then later when the Moon conjuncts Pluto, more stuff surfaces from the subconscious also asking for healing and release.

Since the Solstice (for the Northern Hemisphere at least) brings more light in each day we can think of this light as a healing force that we shine on our patterns, beliefs and fears.  This Solstice let the light in no matter where you reside in the world.  Happy New Moon and may you grow and prosper just like those Star Trek characters.

Final Uranus-Pluto Square, but...

Since we are experiencing the final Uranus-Pluto Square of a 7-part series, it feels even more intense.  And in fact, this square lasts the longest, first starting at 13 degrees, then another hit at 14 degrees and ending at 15 degrees taking us through March 2015.  And for anyone who has ignored the lessons, this final square brings us a knock-out-drag-down fight with the stuff in our subconscious.

Yes, it's time to claim spiritual mastership and awaken consciousness.  Remember Uranus in Aries awakens the warrior in each of us and Pluto takes us through the Dark Night of the Soul.  So even though we are experiencing dual between the two planets, they actually compliment each other.  Wacky Uranus with his techno gizmos traveling in the sign of the warrior (Aries) gives us the courage and foolish heart to take Pluto's journey into the underworld of our subconscious.

This means that we encounter our compulsions, impulses and stuff that causes us to sabotage our best efforts.  This is where we find childhood trauma or neglect and this is where we forgive others.  We first forgive ourselves for believing that we are less than Divine Perfection then we forgive others forgetting who they are in the eyes of a Universal God.  We look for grace and beauty in every person we meet and every situation called forth to master.  And I know no one wants to think about spiritual mastership during the holidays, even though the spiritual components and the holiness of the religious holidays give us the bolster to claim the light within each of us.  Pluto may drown us in darkness, but our hearts hold the key to finding the light at the end of the tunnel so that we escape the confinement of our own hell.

And there are those of you who will consider to claim suffering as your badge of honor. There are those of you who will ignore Universal Laws, especially that we attract like magnets through our thoughts, emotions and feelings.  And there will be those of you at the peril of Uranus-Pluto's wrath who will keep projecting your shadows onto others so you can play the role of the victim.  None of these tactics serve you and in fact, sink you deeper into depression (the abyss).  Be like the Greek goddess-maiden Persephone and reclaim your power by plunging into darkness and turning on the light within you.

I have seen this square affecting my own life and neither Pluto or Uranus are aspecting any of my planets at 0 degrees.  I had someone break into my apartment, clog my toilet and steal belongings of mine with sentimental value.  I have dealt with narcissistic behavior and paranoia from others in the past two weeks. I have also had to deal with paranoia from myself and not knowing who to trust as I have turned the mirror on myself and asked, "Why am I attracting these situations? What can I learn from these painful experiences?"  And I feel completely exhausted.

People are revealing their dark stuff to us now.  We might suffer great losses of friendships, lovers, family members through death or through going our separate ways as truths are revealed to us about these relationships. Some of you will be diagnosed with illnesses now that act as master teachers.  Some of you will leave secure homes for the unknown because your soul longs to explore deeper consciousness.  And this period (beginning last week of November through March), will transform all of us through individual and world events that shake us to our cores.

Despite the Uranus-Pluto square, I wish each of you happy holidays and a brighter 2015.  I sense that 2015 will feel much gentler than 2008-2014.  Saturn moves into Sagittarius and out of Scorpio.  And by March we will have experienced the final Uranus-Pluto fiasco. I'll see you on the other side, and as always, if you would like an astrologer to help you make sense of the planetary mambo, sign up for a reading at Metaphysics for Everyday Living.

Astrological Forecast for 2015: Magic Carpet Ride & Then Some

Photo by Patricia Herlevi, Seattle 1980s
Two images appear in my mind when contemplating the astrological year for 2015.  First, I see a kaleidoscope presented by Neptune and Jupiter, but I also see a tapestry woven by Saturn in Sagittarius as this planet tries to make sense of Neptune's surrealism and Jupiter's stage show.  Shakespeare once said that all the world's a stage and that we're all players.  However, did he realize the extent of our co-creation?

So instead of going month to month and give you the miniature breakdowns of transits, I'm presenting a bigger picture of 2015 by presenting themes.  I focus mainly on the outer planet transits, the three Mercury retrogrades in Air Signs, and the two sets of eclipses that take place in the spring and fall.  As you already know, Mercury always retrogrades approximately three times a year and or every three and half to four months.  And the planet isn't really going backwards, but it is so far ahead of the Sun that the earth's rotation that brings Mercury back in alignment with the Sun, causes that backwards movement. It's all about speed and velocity, but since I'm not a physicist, I'll leave it up to the scientists to explain the effect.

The Solar and Lunar Eclipses are connected to the Moon Nodes so if the Nodes are in Libra and Aries we can expect eclipses to occur in those signs, but not always.  Sometimes the North Node is in Libra and a Solar Eclipse occurs in Scorpio.  And I look more at the planetary aspects the eclipses make to other transiting planets.  For instance, in 2014 we experienced eclipses with Cardinal planets sometimes with Cardinal T-Crosses or Grand Squares so the intensity of those eclipses was above and beyond the average eclipse.  Even people who don't follow astrology were asking what was going on with the planets during those weeks.  So in light of that, I will also cover the eclipses and aspects they make by transits for 2015.

Weebles Wobble but They Don't Fall Down (Outer Planet Transits)

Uranus, Wikipedia
Since squares between Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn make astrological news often, let's first look at these outer planets.  If you have read my previous posts you know now that Pluto is the Transformer who exposes the dark to the light and Uranus is the Awakener who sometimes causes an uproar just to awaken us.  Pluto in Capricorn wants to transform structure mainly whether that's corporate structure or even bodily structure (through illness such as cancer) or the doing away with hierarchy which has plagued us for thousands of years--those above giving orders and those below showing loyalty to higher ups for survival purposes.

Well, as Uranus brings us new technology many of us, especially younger generations have claimed their independence through an entrepreneurial spirit or through starting non-profit organization.  In fact, with Uranus in Aries, it's the youngest ones that are bucking the system first.  And this makes sense because they are less indoctrinated into the old ways of doing business and they have also come in wired to a different DNA that is 12-strands instead of the usual two.  Their attention spans are shorter and some are fired up with wild futuristic ideas of how to transform the world.  And you just wait as this grows in intensity over the next few years.  Uranus is in the sign of the child, Aries.  Aries won't take no for an answer and is the pioneer of the Zodiac.  Why? Because Aries is the sign that begins the spin of the Zodiac Wheel.

Uranus will leave Aries in 2019 and move into stable Taurus (not so stable at that point) and approximately 5 years after that, Pluto arrives in Aquarius the ruling sign of Uranus.  But let's not concern ourselves with this in 2015 and instead focus on the transits currently on our plates.  So here we have the old order giving away to something new based on the tension caused by Pluto and Uranus squares, which by the way, we experience the final square at 13 degrees at the end of January, 14 degrees at the end of February and 15 degrees the last two thirds of March.  This square is going out with its final set of fireworks and in March, Mars transiting in Aries gives Uranus a boost when it arrives at 15 degrees.  Oh, boy, I can hardly wait...

So what does all this mumbo jumbo mean? We continue to experience the exact square between the planets that began during the last week of November. As far as I can remember, we haven't experienced yet an on again-off again Uranus-Pluto square that extended itself out beyond three months. And since this is the last of the series, these planets are pulling all the stops.  In early January the Sun in Capricorn conjuncts Pluto exact on January 4 when the Uranus-Pluto square has a one degree orb so it's like the Sun shines some light on gloomy Pluto. We also experience a Full Moon on January 4 at 14 degrees Cancer so we experience another Cardinal T-Cross and so early in the year.

All this pushy energy comes to wake us up about self-love, self-nurturing and shaping a new reality as co-creators rather than mere chess pieces on a board with some big hand of authority moving us around.  Uranus gives power back to the people and like I mentioned earlier it's the youngest ones who jumped on board first.  Some were born already on the train, though many are too wired by an other Uranus habit with computer games (violence) which also blends Uranus technology with an Aries warrior attitude.  Yet, what type of reality do violent computer games create?  We must get these kids and young adults away from the computer so that they can invent technology that benefits the planet in some way. They have brilliant minds that are mostly going to waste whether through drugs (Neptune) or computer games.

But at least they want to create a different reality and know that they can.  In 2015, Law of Attraction practices will skyrocket as more people get that they do co-create reality as part of a collective. I'm already getting messages for books I pick up and other synchronicity that we weave our own dream lives based on our beliefs and patterns we inherit, but we can write another story for ourselves.  I like the idea of giving up labels since labels are ego-based and actually separate us from the grander scheme. Labels also cause tension between opposing groups and views.

And what I see is a grander tapestry in which blue, yellow and green threads of belief weave together to create a symmetrical yet diverse image that takes our breath away with its beauty.  It's like seeing the Earth from outer space minus any borders or boundaries.  We are all part of the same cosmic fabric no matter what beliefs we have. And it's only when our beliefs are shaky or don't belong to us in the first place do we engage in heated debates (even war) with others with opposing views.  A person secure in his or her beliefs does not walk around announcing them because they simply live those beliefs.  It is insecurity and not any set of beliefs that divide us so in the grand tapestry we co-exist in peace.  This is the message of Neptune in Pisces and to an extent the message of Saturn in Sagittarius.

In 2015, Neptune continues to dissolve worlds as well as, fog up the world with second hand smoke.  We continue to see debates about recreational drug use and it will be interesting how Saturn in Sagittarius will play into this scenario since Sagittarius represents law and freedom while Saturn represents authority such as government along with Pluto in Capricorn.  But the other side of Neptune revolves around spiritual practices and the performing arts such as dance, music and cinema as well as, photography.  Neptune also provides us with lessons of forgiveness, compassion, humility and merging into Unity Consciousness.  But how scary is that for some folks? Pisces love to merge, but most signs prefer to observe the illusion of separation. Neptune is the ocean and every river empties into the ocean eventually and just think about the vastness of the sea when you're stuck in a little rowboat rowing for your life with that thick fog coming in.

In August, Jupiter (Sagittarius' planet) transits into the Mutable Sign Virgo then we have three outer planets in Mutable Signs including Neptune who stays in Pisces until 2020.  Planets in Mutable Signs don't push ahead or shake things up like the Cardinal Signs, but they mutate one energy into another.  Pisces calms Aries fire, more like drenches it, Virgo tames the lion Leo and acts as the drama critic (enough of that Mr. Lion King), Sagittarius brings humor to Scorpio's gloom and paranoia and Gemini gets Taurus off the couch and out the door to observe happenings in the community.  This is how the Zodiac Wheel works with three qualities following one another and completing the various themes.

What's Up, Mercury?

The first Mercury RX begins on January 22 at 17 Aquarius and when Mercury retrogrades in an Air Sign this is when we experience the infamous technology glitches.  So before this retrograde back up your computer files, upload an internet security program, and expect lots of confusing changes with social media and other websites.  Aquarius rules technology along with Gemini so this is where we experience the most snafus--annoying at best, damaging at worst.  Also don't believe what you hear in the media since it's probably not based on fact or miscommunication rules the day.  Mercury rules reporters and the media and when he's doing the backward dance, facts get confused with opinions even by the most scrupulous journalists.  Mercury rules thoughts, learning and communication.  Mercury goes Direct on February 12 at 1 degree Aquarius.  And the most affected Signs are Aquarius and Leo along with Gemini and Virgo.

The second Mercury RX begins on May 19 in Gemini at 13 degrees and goes direct on June 12 at 4 degrees Gemini.  This Mercury RX deals more with gossip, the power of words, the misinformation in the media, political scandals, other scandals and my word of caution is don't believe the hype.  Saturn also is retrograde in Gemini's polar opposite Sagittarius and opposes Mercury around the time Mercury goes direct so watch out for exaggerated claims.  If it sounds too good to be true, run.  Wait until later in the month to clear up miscommunication and do refrain from gossip or making up stories (people will want to tell lies during this phase).

The final Mercury RX for 2015 begins on September 18 at 15 degrees Libra (more gossip) and turns direct on October 10 at 0 degrees Libra.  This retrograde focuses on partnerships of all kinds, but mainly close business partners and marriage partners (legally or common law marriages).  At this point if conflicts erupt we hear a lot of he said-she said commentaries. Refrain from taking any sides and gather all the facts as if you are Perry Mason.  We also experience passive-aggressive forms of communication where resentful people hiss through smiley faces.  Libra is not a direct energy and yet it is as pushy as Aries (though Libras deny this).  Wait until later in October to clear up misunderstandings which mainly occur at social events, in marriages and in gossip type columns.  Try to stay civil and don't believe everything you hear.

As with all Mercury Retrogrades, use this time to reestablish friendships, reinvent, reedit, reunite (good time for high school or college reunions), revisit and all the other re-stuff. Use this time to retreat and meditate.  I find when Mercury retrogrades we rest from mindless chatter and dig deeper into our thoughts and even practice a still mind. When we meditate we don't feel like engaging in behaviors such as gossip, backbiting or blaming others.  I encourage meditation every day, but especially when Mercury does the backwards dance.  This could also be a time of reuniting with past lovers or friends.  Social gatherings could go well, if they are subdued and light on ego.  Stay mindful and you'll avoid the traps.

Dark Side of the Moon

The First Solar Eclipse of 2015 occurs at 29 degrees Pisces just as the Sun enters Aries.  While I'll talk more about the eclipses closer to the months they occur, 29 degrees is about completing a cycle, and this cycle is in Pisces and occurs right before the Equinox. I'm not picking up any major themes except perhaps something to do with the performing arts (dance, choreography, or music).  We could see the death of musical celebrities or dancer-choreographers at this time that are memorialized on film.  Perhaps we flock to the movie houses to watch a documentary about a late musician, especially one that died in a hospital or a prison.  I also think we will engage in conversations about sound healing and music therapy used for the end of life (since Pisces at 29 degrees represents the end of life) and we will see more hospice nurses embracing music and spiritual practices.

The First Lunar Eclipse of 2015 occurs at 14 degrees Libra on April 4.  Now, remember where you heard about 14 degrees earlier with Uranus squaring Pluto a 14 degrees in February so this degree is hot.  And we experience a Cardinal T-Cross (oh, no not that again!) with Uranus/Sun in Aries, Moon in Libra and Pluto in Capricorn.  And while none of the orbs are exact, expect powerful events this week that throw us off balance. Look for anger management issues (and anger management therapy in the news), children acting up, legal systems and diplomats trying to bring peace to situations and authority trying to enforce old ways of controlling crowds.  Yep, it's going to be another hot-headed April, much like April of 2014 but without Mars in Libra. However, if we learned the lessons from 2014, then this round might be calmer and perhaps Pluto brings maturity and a sense of responsibility to the picture.

On September 12, we experience a Solar Eclipse at 20 degrees Virgo.  Jupiter in Virgo also opposes Neptune in Pisces (but at 6 to 8 degrees).  Here we have Mutable Energy that revolves around how we serve others and idealism associated with service.  I believe we will strive for purity of intent or question purity of intent of others, especially if we embody the shadow side of Virgo which nitpicks.  It's a good time to stay humble and serve from the heart while exposing our personal ulterior motives (we usually have these).  This could represent a time of spiritual breakthroughs.

The Lunar Eclipse on September 27 occurs at 4 degrees Aries gets a boost from Saturn at 0 degrees Sagittarius.  Free from any Cardinal T-Crosses or Grand Squares, we can actually enjoy this eclipse as a call to adventure.  Most likely, there will be a major athletic event occurring during this week that makes an impact on the world.  It likely involves multiple nations and is international in scope.  Though Saturn could put a damper on things or just create new structure or rules for the sport.  If this eclipse doesn't involve a sport it will involve youth travel, foreign exchange students or some kind of pioneering spirit.  Other themes that come up are law, anthropology, foreign affairs, long-distance travel, higher education or religion.  Passion rules the day and this could be a sexy time too.

Well, there you go, my astrological forecast for 2015 revolves around the concept of a grand tapestry where differing views and beliefs join together to create a totality.  We delve further into Law of Attraction and other Universal Laws and see enormous changes in the structures that rule our lives, especially from December 2014 through March 2015.  In April eclipses shake us up and by Fall, we get some breathing room and join an adventure of a lifetime.  And as always, read my monthly forecasts and Moon casts throughout 2015.  Happy surfing through the Cosmos.

Gemini Full Moon for December 6, 2014--Power of Words

So often we use words like weapons.  We have heard the saying that the pen is mightier than the sword, but so is the tongue.  During this Full Moon in Gemini speak with honesty and gentle kindness.  It is a time to use healing words.  And think before you speak, but speak from the heart.  If this sounds like a riddle, welcome to the Gemini Full Moon.

Perhaps you're like me and you enjoy gazing at the Moon.  Last night, I marveled at the beauty of the waxing Taurus Moon.  This moon offers us a time to rest before the Gemini Full Moon.  We rest our minds, rest our throats and nervous system. And this is a good thing since the Gemini Full Moon on December 6 opposes Mercury and the Sun in Sagittarius while squaring Chiron in Pisces (Mutable T-Cross).  Then the Moon sextiles Jupiter in Leo later the same day.

I have a vision of words flying and often hitting their mark. But depending on the words, whether they are loving or cutting, will have lasting results.  So if we choose to keep peace with our friends, colleagues and neighbors, remember the power of words, especially when those words are often laced with childhood wounds (Chiron square).  Ask yourself what's really going on?And if someone upsets you, is he or she just pushing a button that opens a childhood wound?

And don't just practice mindfulness with verbal communication, also take a few deep breaths and edit your e-mails before you send those out.  And in this day of instant messaging, texting, and social media updates, watch your words.  If you want to learn more about the secret power and not so secret power of words read Sharon Klingler's "Power Words" which you can find on Hay House.

And speaking about the power of words, now is a good time for positive affirmations, mantras, and using words in mindful spiritual practice.  Listen to music that uplifts you that features encouraging words.  I can think of a few popular songs that can get you started such as "I Have Confidence in Me" from The Sound of Music, "Phenomenal Woman" sung by Ruthie Foster and written by Maya Angelou or "Ma Vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf or what about "It's a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong?  All those songs contain power words.  You can also go for humor, but keep it clean.  Cutting other people down in the name of humor is just another form of self-righteousness.

Well, enjoy the Gemini Full Moon.  Play scrabble, have fun with words, write poetry, write articles, but stay away from arguments, gossip and superficial banter.  And don't believe advertisements because it's usually full of hot air exaggeration and more so now with Mercury in Sagittarius. Don't use words for the sake of sounding witty.  A master speaks from the heart.

Cardinals on the Leading Edge of Transformation

Cardinals, we have a long way to go.
Since Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra and Capricorn) act as fire starters for Zodiac cycles, I also see these signs as pioneering the way into the shift of consciousness on our minds these days.  When the fateful year 2012 finally arrived, Saturn was in Libra, Uranus in Aries and Pluto in Capricorn.  Then in 2013-14, Mars spent 8 months in Libra (its polar opposite Cardinal Sign).

We have experienced life-altering eclipses in Libra and Aries and the North Node currently transits in Libra.  Mars doesn't normally spend 8 months in one sign and Uranus doesn't normally spend 9 years in one sign (it spends 7 years in a sign) and what's up with the series of squares between Uranus and Pluto that spans several years?  Now, both my Sun and Ascendant fall in Cardinal Signs so I've always paid attention to Cardinal energy (though most of my chart's planets fall in Mutable Signs).  My North Node falls in Cancer and all my family members have either Capricorn or Cancer Suns.  And one of my longtime friends has her Sun in Libra and her Moon in Capricorn.

One astrologer, (I wish I could remember who) mentioned that the Cardinal Sun and Moon people are taking the brunt of transformational energies on the planet during this Grand Shift.  And I would be surprised that if we took polls of people who lived in cars after the recession of 2008-10 have their Sun or Moon in a Cardinal Sign from 0 to 8 degrees.  I believe there is a greater cosmic design at work that placed the pushy signs up front to spur humanity  into action.  Then the Mutable Signs follow behind with Neptune in Pisces and later Saturn in Sagittarius and then in 2015, Jupiter moves into Virgo.  In 2019, Uranus moves into a fixed sign, Taurus and so on.

So what are the themes at play with the Cardinal Signs as they lead us into a New Age?  Let's start with Aries, the warrior.  As we move into this new age, we transform the old-style warrior energy (divide and conquer, competition, winners and losers) into an inner warrior that learns to balance the ego with Spirit.  Here we ask Aries to move away from offensive and defensive models and to use that Mars energy to conquer our fears without attacking others as we project our fears onto them.  We move away from the preoccupation of having to be number uno or come first.  And instead apply Aries energy towards spiritual breakthroughs as we muster the courage to face our own shadows.  No wonder why Mars (Aries' planet) spent 8 months in balancing and peace-loving Libra!  And as far as personal planets, Mars and the Moon have played huge transformational roles in recent years.

With Aries we face our wounded inner children and bring healing to them.  We give these inner children courage to face the darkness or wounds within then let them go.  We find balance with our masculine and feminine sides or our inner mother and inner father.  Healing childhood wounds is imperative under the Aries influence.  We also relate to children on a new level seeing their wisdom, gifts and talents instead of just relating to them as cute or adorable creatures.  These children are Indigo and Crystal thus more powerful than any of us realize.  Aries rules the child and these children bring a new and profound energy to the planet not witnessed ever before.  They have long memories of ancient civilizations and remember mistakes made in the past so they bring new wisdom for solving age-old problems.  Let's say no more war.

The new themes for Cancer is to move away from tribal and clannish instincts and to embrace the whole of humanity as family.  I have lived in two cities (one small and one midsize) with Cancer Sun rulers.  And what I noticed in both cities is a clannish instinct that excludes any newcomers.  However, cities such as Bellingham, Washington with it's Cancer Sun, Libra Moon and Ascendant has experienced an influx of new people to the community which has blasted through those clannish instincts.  The United States ruled by a Cancer Sun has also experienced its problems with immigration, a very hot topic at the moment.  And the nation also leads the world (unfortunately) in GMO foods with the ideal of feeding the world (the opposite is true).  But if you lace the GMO food industry with sentimentality, many Cancer Suns jump on board or rally against the food newcomers since they go against tradition.

The problem with the old themes of Cancer is that like its polar opposite Capricorn, Cancer is cautious and yes, fearful (I can attest to this) as well as, suspicious of anything new.  These signs relish traditions, especially family and community traditions.  But the new energy for Cancer involves developing intuitive gifts, self-nurturing so we can give more to others from a full heart.  It's about stepping out of the shell and realizing that in Unity Consciousness (Neptune/Pisces) we are all part of the same ocean of energy. There is no us and them.  The new Cancer energies dissolve labels in a salt bath and stop creating boundaries that keep others out because of fear.  It is our own worries and fears that cause dark thought forms and morphogenetic fields. The true enemy resides inside us, not outside of us so when we build those protective walls around ourselves, we suffer at our own hands.  Jupiter's transit in Cancer expanded upon these themes and we realized that we create more of what we fear by placing our focus there.  Time to transform this old fearful habit.

First Saturn spent time in Libra opposing Uranus in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn.  Then Mars spent 8 months in Libra followed by the North Node moving into Libra (for a year and half).  What's this about? Are you paying attention? Libra represents partnerships of all kinds, but especially marriage.  Many marriages bit the dust during the recession caused by Pluto moving into Capricorn and then later Uranus moving into Aries.  The North Node represents where we are heading and in the case of Libra, we include justice and balance in all pursuits into the equation.

Now, I used to think of Libra as light, airy and flirtatious especially flirtation involving a sharp mind.  We could equate Libra (ruled by Venus) with fashion, style, the feminine instinct along with the legal system or refinement.  But that's the old Libra.  My new interpretation for Venus and Libra revolves around finding greater balance on the earth by how we treat each other and the planet.  This Libra asks us to recycle, compost, re-use clothing (heard of recycled fashion), and to live in balance through sustainable earth practices.

The Pluto in Libra generation born in the 1970s and early 1980s usher in a time of reestablishing marriage rites and practices while learning how to communicate through non-violent communication. But this generation struggles with partnerships because they still operate on the Aries polarity of "me first" and the battle cry "what about my needs?"  However, this same generation has broken down boundaries between the sexes, especially with raising children.  And as this generation matures (as they enter their 40s and 50s), they delve more deeply into shadows and projections while taking responsibility for their own projections (we hope anyway).  The Pluto in Scorpio generation can help with this.

The new Libra energy doesn't fight for justice, but creates balance within that reflects outward while launching a whole new paradigm shift.  Libra joins with Cancer in creating win-win situation by developing self-nurturing and self-love that fills each of us to the point that we no longer steal energy from others.  And Libra joins with Cancer to bring justice to the food industry and thus greater balance to our bodies as we feed ourselves higher frequency or vibrational food.  Libra joins with new Capricorn energy to bring fairness to the workplace and ethical practices with corporations and non-profits (some non-profits are corrupt by the way).  Libra joins with Aries to bring justice to humans, non-humans and the planets. Just watch the strange lawsuits that surface in the near future giving equal rights to animals and the earth. It's already happening.

Now the final energy to receive a facelift is Capricorn.  We often think of Capricorn as the Patriarch and we relate to Capricorn as a builder of structure or the third dimension of time-space reality.  We refer to Capricorn as a wise elder, a hermit, or a corporate business leader and all of these roles are about to go obsolete as we enter a New Age.  We are after all rising above the third dimension of time-space reality into the 4th and higher dimensions where time or space seems irrelevant.  Our political structure, corporate structures, and religious structures built on hierarchy (those above and those below) undergoes upheaval during the Pluto in Capricorn transit which ends in 2024 (so we still have 10 years to go).

The new Capricorn energy gets us back in touch with Mother Nature as we set our feet firmly on the ground.  We built new structures based on ancient geometry and sustainable practices.  We create new business models that honor humanity and the earth.  By the time Pluto transits into Aquarius in 2024 or thereabouts, Capricorn's new business models pave the way for futuristic inventions as we give birth to a new earth.  So it's not surprising that a Cardinal Earth Sign leads the way. Could it be any other way?

A New Earth, Wikipedia
The current Pluto Generation in Capricorn as well as, the young adults born with Saturn/Uranus/Neptune and other planet clusters in Capricorn carry the blueprint for the new structure.  And this new structure includes how we design or re-design cities in the future that surpass the old corporate, political and religious models. These folks help us stay grounded as we explore the greater cosmos.  They come up with practical solutions as Neptune in Pisces dissolves old structures along with Pluto in Capricorn.  And interestingly enough, Neptune transits into Aries in 2020 and just three years from now, Saturn transits into Capricorn so this Cardinal push continues.

So I ask you to pay close attention to planets and nodes transiting in Cardinal Signs.  Move away from this idea of feeling like a victim if your Sun, Moon or Ascendant fall in a Cardinal Sign.  We are true leaders and leaders don't act like victims and the days of martyring oneself (more ego machinations) have ended.  Carry the sword of truth in one hand and the scales in the other.  And when you lack courage to live your path with integrity, remember to call upon Archangel Michael.  We have a job to do.

Moving Away from Sun-Centered Astrology (The Latest Spiritual Download)

My spiritual downloads from  St. Thomas
What if each Sun and Moon Sign followed the transits of their rulers? Would we get a clearer picture of events and situations in a client's life? For instance, for Aquarius we would focus mainly on the Uranus transit, in this case in Aries.  Then we would apply Aries themes and qualities to Aquarius during the Uranus transit.

Often astrologers refer to the planetary ruler of the Ascendant.  So if the Ascendant is in Capricorn then the ruler of the chart is Saturn.  However, for this article, I am referring to the rulers of the Sun predominantly and the Moon.  In this case the Sun rules the ego and outer personality while the Moon represents the subconscious and inner self/emotions.  Therefor, to get a complete picture of how transits affect a client, following transits of the rulers (for the Sun and Moon) show how we react on both an outer and inner level as well as, watching the cycles represented by the Moon's ruler.

Let's use my chart as an example because I know it well and I can directly speak from my experiences.  My Sun falls in Cancer ruled by the Moon and my Moon falls in Pisces ruled by Neptune (and traditionally Jupiter).  Now because my Sun's ruler is the Moon, I am affected directly by eclipses, New and Full Moon cycles.  So in August during the Full Moon in Aquarius I did something unexpected, but expected from Uranus.  I gave notice to move out of my apartment without any place to go.  This is a crazy thing for a lunar person (ruled by Cancer/Moon) to do.  But Neptune in Pisces has been transiting over my Saturn and Moon in a conjunction and squaring my Mars in Gemini while also opposing my Natal Uranus in Virgo.

Remember Neptune is the ruler of my Moon and it landed on my Natal Moon and Saturn (which is the ruler of my Ascendant which we're not covering here).  So my living between homes for the past three months (Pisces/Neptune) gave me an outlet with the transit to my Mars (Mercury/Gemini) to write a comical memoir of my experiences living between homes.  The Neptune transit to my Moon and Saturn has literally dissolved old structure.  And it's so dramatic that there are times when I don't recognize myself and joke that I'm going through a midlife crisis.

My watch keeps stopping for brief times (even though the battery isn't dead) and often I no longer know the day or even the month (Saturn).  While I've paid my bills on time, I'm behind on paperwork because I don't have a permanent address or even a phone number at this time.  I experience some Neptune moments where my body floats above me or I easily float off into a deep sleep and strange dreams.  I'm able to communicate telepathically during dream time and even during the regular course of the day.  And epiphanies are a dime a dozen and so are spiritual downloads at 3:00 or 4:00 a.m.

Finally, I want to mention that the Full Moon in Pisces in September brought me a clearer understanding of my past decisions which feel like a reset to me.  I also experienced greater waves of compassion and forgiveness from myself and others.  Then when the Full Moon in Taurus arrived around October 4, a Taurus Man offered me a home (even though I have yet to move into it).  I have experienced delays and complications which I now know were caused by my preoccupation with negative situations.  I expect movement now since I let go of those negative burdens.  Saint Thomas of Aquinas (who gives me these downloads), said, "Think of it as a gift when you know both the beauty and ugliness of a person. That the person had the courage to show you both sides."  With those words I was able to forgive transgressions from the past.

Then I watched a Bashar video on YouTube (which I had watched earlier in my housing search) that reminded me to let go of petty grievances and this idea of betrayal (ego machinations) in order to speed up manifestation (in this case a new home).  I expect forward movement now.

So let's get to each of the Sun Signs and the transits we can observe for those signs to get the most clear picture of current life events:

Aries is ruled by Mars so for Aries, we focus on Mars transits by sign, house placement, and aspects to other planets.  In addition since Uranus transits in Aries, we can also focus on Uranus as a secondary transit.  Often Mars has gone to battle with Uranus with Squares and Oppositions in recent months.  Aries Sun and Moon, do you feel more exhausted this year or more volatile since Mars had a recent transit in Capricorn conjunct Pluto?

Taurus' ruling planet is Venus, though soon enough a new planet will enter our galaxy to represent Taurus and it will be an outer planet.  But until then, we watch the Venus transits for Taurus (and Libra).  If the Moon falls in Taurus then pay attention to the feminine side of the psyche as well as, the blossoming of intuitive gifts.  Venus moves rather quickly through the Zodiac and each sign colors the Venus experience.  Look for aspects with other planets (especially outer planets), as well as, transiting through houses.  What do you wish to beautify? Where are you applying sensuality to those houses or aspects?

Since Venus is the ruling planet for Taurus and Libra, I'm including both signs here for the Sun and the Moon.  And because my head hurts and I would like to get off my laptop.

Gemini and Virgo's ruling planet is Mercury.  Similar to Venus, Mercury races around the Zodiac unless Mr. Quicksilver is doing the backward dance.  When that happens, people with their Sun in those Mutable Signs must take a breather or it seems like everything they touch snags.  What I mean by that is when we are frazzled we mess more stuff up like a run in stockings when we pull on a stray thread.  If the Moon falls in Virgo or Gemini, the native with this Moon placement, finds it challenging to express emotions during a Mercury Retrograde.  Everything he or she says backfires or comes back convoluted and confusing.

However, Mercury by aspect to other planets can also add to confusion when Mercury squares or opposes other Mutable planets or gets involved with a yod.  And I also recommend following Mercury through the houses and signs since our communication style changes drastically when it's in Aries and when it's in Pisces.  Similar to the Moon which colors our moods by transits through the various signs, Mercury transits through sign colors our communication and thinking styles.  We think and act bolder during the month Mercury travels through Aries, and more mystical when Mercury travels through Pisces (and Mercury's ruler Gemini squares Pisces and Virgo opposes Pisces).

Cancer's ruler is the Moon.  And someone with their Moon in Cancer will feel the Cancer-effect double.  The Moon has such a powerful effect over all of us, but especially Cancerians and their polar opposite Capricorn, though Capricorn ruled by Saturn has its feet firmly on the ground.  The Moon rules daily and monthly cycles, as well as, cycles of the eclipses, Full and New Moon. So for someone with a Cancer Sun or Moon it behooves us to follow the Moon Cycles, even the progressed Moon cycles. As if Cancer Sun and Moon people aren't complicated enough!

Also look to the Sign, House and planetary aspects of the Moon transits.  So if the Cancer Moon falls in Taurus in the 4th House and forms a trine with Natal or transiting planets, the domestic scene looks pretty good and the Cancer Sun or Moon person prefers to spend more time at home or at least in a place that feels like a protective shell.  They won't engage in much social activity during that transit, but they might buy or sell a home because Taurus and Cancer rule real estate and the 4th House rules the mother and the home with Cancer as its natural 4th House Ruler. Complicated, I know.

Now we arrive in Leo whose ruler is the Sun.  So even with a Leo Moon we still follow the Sun transits for Leo by planetary aspects, house transits and by transiting sign.  We look for themes having to do with Leo such as theater, creativity, heart, ego, and finding one's center without sucking other people dry in the process.  Since the Sun is also involved with New, Full Moon and eclipses, we also look to the Moon, especially for people with a Natal Moon in Leo (or Cancer).

We're skipping over Virgo and Libra since I already covered them under Taurus and Gemini.  Scorpio's ruling planet is Pluto.  So the most important transits for Scorpio these days is Saturn in Scorpio (until December 24) and Pluto in Capricorn (an exchange between Pluto and Saturn).  Pluto currently transits in the Cardinal Sign Capricorn which is a harbinger of change.  Therefor, people with Natal Sun and or Moon in Scorpio, act as catalysts at this time.  This is why we have focused on psychology around shadow projections and the deep subconscious, more so for people born with Scorpio Moon or Sun.  These people definitely get what the Pluto transits are about.

Since Pluto will be in the same sign for another 10 years, focus on mainly its aspects to other planets as well as, the house (or houses depending on the chart) Pluto currently resides.  Do this for both the Sun and Moon in Scorpio.

Next up we have Sagittarius whose planetary ruler is Jupiter.  Jupiter changes signs once a year and is currently transiting in Leo (another Fire Sign).  Jupiter will stay in one or possibly travel to an adjacent house for the duration of the year so focusing on aspects to other transiting and natal planets is key.  This goes for Natal Moon and Natal Sun in Sagittarius.  Also note that Saturn moves into Sagittarius in late December so then we also apply Capricorn/Saturn themes along with Sagittarius themes (see other posts on Saturn in Sagittarius).

Capricorn's ruling planet is Saturn which has a 2 1/2 to 3 year cycle. For people with a Capricorn Moon or Sun we focus on the Saturn transits which come in increments of 7 years (7, 14, 21, 28, etc).  We also make special note of the Saturn Returns (roughly ages 30, 60 and 90).  Both the Sun and Moon in Capricorn have a "hard knock life" theme. These folks believe strongly that one gains wisdom through suffering (Pisces also falls into this belief).

We mainly look at the house where Saturn resides for it's 2 1/2 to 3 year cycle as well as, all aspects to other transiting and natal planets.

Aquarius' ruling planet is Uranus which has stirred up drama in the past 6 years with its infamous squares to transiting Pluto in Capricorn.  Uranus also transits slowly through a chart (will stay in Aries until 2019) so we just look to the house of the Uranus transit and especially aspects to other planets such as Pluto.  Aquarius also benefits from Uranus in Aries trining with other planets transiting through Fire Signs such as Jupiter in Leo and in the near future, Saturn in Sagittarius.  So if the Natal Moon or Sun falls in Aquarius, pay attention to Uranus transits as well as Aries themes applied to the house where Uranus transits.

Meaning, if Uranus in Aries falls in the Second House (gifts, confidence, talents, personal resources) expect both unexpected situations such as pleasant windfalls or unpleasant downfalls that bring out the warrior spirit. That's just one example.

Finally, if you or your client's Natal Sun or Moon falls in Pisces, look to Neptune as the ruler.  Neptune marks another super long and slow transit lasting around 12 to 13 years in a single sign.  Currently Neptune is around 4 to 5 degrees Pisces. I mentioned already what you can expect from a Neptune in Pisces transit with my personal experiences with my Pisces Moon.  Look to the transiting house and any aspects to other transiting or Natal planets.

Astrological Forecast for December 2014--Quickening of the Soul

I realize that the Uranus Square Pluto story has grown stale by now, but we’re in for another round of the boxing match between the Awakener Uranus and the Transformer Pluto with both planets at 12 degrees for the entire month.  This match started right after the American Thanksgiving holiday.

Besides this Cardinal floor show (expect more chaos in the world around the holiday season and well into 2015), Venus enters Capricorn on December 11th followed by Mercury entering Capricorn on the 18th. Venus joins up with Pluto exact on the 21st (around the Winter Solstice) and Mercury conjuncts Pluto on Christmas.  Meanwhile the Capricorn planet Saturn switches from the fixed sign Scorpio into the mutable Sagittarius on December 24th.  We experience relief with Chiron at 13 degrees Pisces (sextile to Pluto, Venus and Mercury in Capricorn), asking us to dig deeper into our conscience and forgive others, especially those who harmed us during our early childhood intentionally or unintentionally.

With all this energy centered on Saturn via Capricorn, Pluto and Uranus, we can expect larger events that shift consciousness on the planet.  These events play out between the old waning structures and emerging new ways of being on the planet.  Uranus in Aries plays the role of the spiritual warrior or represents the youth on the planet, especially the Indigo, Crystal and Rainbow kids who have a different song to sing absent of world domination or destruction of the planet.  It’s about time we open our hearts and ears to listen to the messages these children bring.  And when I say children, this does range from 0 to 30+ years of age.

The group with the loudest message was born between 1988 and 1990 with a Triple Conjunction of planets in Capricorn.  And I’m talking the big, slow moving planets including Saturn, Uranus and Neptune.  Remember that Saturn brings a sense of responsibility and discipline to the picture along with a dose of integrity.  Uranus breaks down the old structure and has eyes on the future and Neptune dissolves structure or the old ways that reflect on the illusion of separation.  Say goodbye to any type of dualism now. There is no us and them (reminds me of the Pink Floyd song, “Us and Them”).

It’s time to get off this merry-go-round of self-righteousness (they’re wrong and we’re right).  And this does include every area of life such as politics, economics, religion and ethnic identity.  Those of you who proclaim yourself “The chosen people of God” or set yourself above “earthlings” because you are from another planet (starseeds) experience a breakdown of ego.  The Uranus-Pluto Square offers us round #6 and if you remember round #1 happened around the time of the emergence of the Occupy Movement and Arab Spring.  Unfortunately, this square also brings violent events such as Indigo Children killing other children and or adults as these kids don’t know what to do with their pent up emotions caused from feeling alienated and unacknowledged for their unique gifts or learning abilities.

At the beginning of the month, Mars moves out of Capricorn into Aquarius.  So now ambition takes a turn for humanitarian efforts.  However, Mars opposes Jupiter in Leo at the month’s end, right before the New Year so the collective pits itself against the individual.  Mars represents technology and humanitarian efforts with its warrior spirit and Jupiter in Leo could refer to celebrities, the movie industry or even expanding one’s heart center on an esoteric level.  We foster the concept of self-love while still serving humanity in some way.  In fact, we might just heal the concept of self-sacrifice and see that self-love heals the planet in a powerful way.

With Mercury (6 degrees), Sun, Venus (12 degrees) and New Moon at 0 degrees Capricorn on the Winter Solstice, we act more sober around the holidays.  Either we have some serious business to attend to with world “tragedies” or challenging weather causing catastrophes or we gain wisdom at this time from ancestors or our elders.  We feel practical and not so much like shopping or partying.  Capricorn strips us bare and has us questioning our integrity and the integrity of others. We want to huddle with our family and brave the storm instead of socializing.  And the storm is more on the inner than outer level as we make sense of world events, most likely around economics (Japan’s economy has already entered a recession).

With Mars in Aquarius, we are less likely to support large corporations by shopping until we drop.  Big box stores won’t reap the profits of recent years, but non-profits could experience a boon around the holidays since we want to support causes.  Oddly, high tech could also experience a financial boon at this time, but in an unexpected way (Mars in Aquarius and Uranus in Aries with mutual reciprocity). Perhaps software companies practice philanthropy around the holidays or bring solutions to Climate Change or other problems we face collectively.

On December 6 we experience the Full Moon in Gemini at 14 degrees which opposes Mercury and the Sun then Venus later in the transit (Sagittarius).  This Moon speaks of long-distance and short-distance travel as well as, how we relate to women, especially women from other cultures and ethnic groups.  We experience themes around journalism, the media in general; women in the media, anthropology, religion and university professors.  This Moon feels expansive to me as if something we learn during this time not only expands our mind/thinking but ultimately our consciousness.  It feels like a trip to the cosmos and if we can curb any restlessness we feel at this time, we could do some deep meditation.  Planets enter the Galactic Center when they transit between 24 and 29 degrees Sagittarius so this comes into play.

We start off the month with square between the Sun and Mercury in Sagittarius and Neptune in Pisces. Again, I’m picking up spiritual and religious themes as well as the exploration of dreams.  Any movies released in December with spiritual themes experience box office success.  People gaze deeply at expansion of consciousness and spiritual awakening on the planet.  Groundbreaking movies arrive in theaters at this time. I’m remembering the mid-1970s when “Star Wars” arrived in the theaters and spread a message of light verses dark forces.  The movies that appear now would be more about inclusion than exclusion.  In other words, look for movies with a Unity Consciousness theme that tap into collective consciousness and shape shift reality.

Finally, Saturn transits into expansive Sagittarius on December 24.  However, this means that people with Sagittarius Sun, Moon, Ascendant or Saturn (Saturn Return) experience constrictions and restrictions in their lives.  Saturn always brings hard earned lessons and often feels like a spiritual initiation. Saturn provides a sober gaze at our dreams while giving us a step-by-step approach to achieving them. Saturn demands that we pull up sleeves and make the effort.  But the rewards are great if we follow Saturn’s lead.  So we take those pie-in-the-sky ideas and put some muscle behind them.  And anything we build during a Saturn transit has lasting quality.

We build new structure around long-distance travel, higher education, foreign relations, religion, and even discover ancient text that changes our day-to-day philosophies (such as ancient text found recently that mention the marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene). Saturn takes one more dip into Scorpio the summer of 2015 then remains in Sagittarius for 2 1/2 years.  Those of you born with Saturn in Sagittarius will either have your first, second or even third Saturn Return.  This gives you time to take stock of the direction of your life and your personal growth.  The second and third Saturn Returns go more smoothly if you have done your work.  However, the first Saturn Return (age 28 to 30) brings challenging lessons about integrity, responsibility and discipline.

All and all, December 2014 brings us many challenges on the personal and global levels.  Several planets enter the Galactic Center during the month sending us messages from the cosmos and if we do the work, we reach another level of awakening on the planet.  Happy New Year!
