North Node Transits into Leo--May 10, 2017

I think that the big news for May is the North Node moving into Leo, the Sign of the Lion. For those of you unfamiliar with the North Node, this is a destiny marker in astrology charts. The North and South Nodes determine where we experience the Solar and Lunar Eclipses. And the North Node changes signs every 18 months which translates to a year and a half.

When the North Node was in Libra and the South Node was in Aries, we learned the lessons of balance, justice, and diplomacy while focusing upon relationships with self and with others. Then when the North Node transited into Virgo (the Node transits in counter clockwise direction), we focused on service versus our personal healing.

Now, with the North Node transiting into Leo on May 10 and the South Node transiting into Aquarius, our focus is on expressing ourselves as individuals versus joining a tribe or community. For those of you who focus too much on self, your challenge is to expand yourself into your society or community. What groups can you join or what groups can you lead?

For those of us who are focused too much on community and who have volunteered ourselves until our bones feel like they made it through a grinder, it's time to focus on self-expression. This is because nodes focus on polarities. And when we focus on polarities we cast shadows and projections on to others because we fail to integrate all of our attributes into our personality. It isn't a bad idea to read Debbie Ford's books on the shadow effect.

Now, I envision activist types magnifying evil in others who aren't in agreement with their morals and values. And while I understand where the activist heart comes from, we must be extremely careful not to add more evil into the world through our harsh judgments and scathing views of others. This is when an Aquarius energy turns into a Leo energy. And I've seen this with Aquarius people who are so determined that everyone see life their way and they believe that everyone else is acting in a selfish manner as the Aquarius person is the one acting like a tyrant. If you catch yourself doing this, stop and re-frame your thoughts and feelings from a place of love.

If you are in the opposite camp and express Leo energy that others find as selfish, start brainstorming how you can contribute your skills and experiences to your community even if you received no compensation. I know, that's a hard one for you, Leo. It's true we enjoy your sunny nature. However, we can only handle so much drama off stage. And speaking of stages, we will all find ourselves on a stage or soap box during the next 18 months or year and a half. You might read this post a year and a half from now and see if that was the case for you.

We all need to get familiar with Leo and Aquarius energies since the eclipses will now take place in these signs. Look in the area of your charts where you have Leo and Aquarius on the cusps. If you have a Leo or Aquarius Ascendant, then you have those signs on your First and Seventh Houses and the themes I mentioned above will play out more heavily for you. In fact, your focus will be on self versus the other.

Look for physical and emotional problems with the heart, brain, and circulatory system. Look for ways to heal or tame the ego since it's going to rear its head. While we won't be looking at unconditional love like we did with the Virgo-Pisces axis, we will be looking at how we express generosity or greed in the world. A Leo or Aquarius love is much different in tone and color than the Pisces-Virgo unconditional love which reflects on sacrifice and service.

In addition, we are going to focus more on the Fixed Signs later this year with Jupiter moving into the Fixed Sign Scorpio for a year. Instead of having the North Node and Jupiter in the same sign as we did with Virgo in 2015-16, we will now experience a square with Jupiter and the North Node. We could in fact fight against what we feel is destiny or fate for us because the North Node represents fate. And it is like Beethoven's Fifth Symphony with an uncomfortable fate cloaked in black clothing knocking at our front door. How will we respond to fate when it leads us to an unknowable future? Remember that the North Node always asks us to walk into the void. It's the place we feel most uncomfortable especially if we were born with our North Node in Leo.

So how best to work with this new nodal activity? Focus on healing your first three chakras by wearing warmer colors (red, orange, and yellow). We will most likely do this unconsciously. Spend time in nature grounding yourself so you create strong roots and a foundation. Learn to say no to activists who asks you to take up causes not dear to your heart. We strike a balance between authenticity and serving the Greater Good. Don't allow others to manipulate you with guilt and shame. And speak your truth even if you ended up roaring. Set strong boundaries and say no to off-stage drama.

There will be days where we feel like we showed up at Central Casting in Hollywood. Or if you are familiar with Federico Fellini's "La Dolce Vita" you might compare hedonistic behaviors you witness with the characters and scenarios of that classic Italian movie. The danger of any planet or node transiting in Fixed Signs is that we become lazy, greedy, and hedonistic. And we must stay away from thinking that activists only care about the Greater Good. Remember that every Leo possesses Aquarius qualities and the other way around.

However, if you are someone who mainly focuses on self-interests, get involved with a cause. And if you are someone who tires yourself out bouncing from one cause to the next, take some time for self-care. Nodes ask us to create balance in the areas of our lives they represent. Am I happy about the North Node moving into Leo? No, I'm not since I'm mostly represented by compassionate water signs. However, despite that, we are all affected by the nodes and the cycles of eclipses. I suppose we are all kings and queens of our lives but that does not mean that it's our turn to spin drama. Let's keep our heads and hearts in balance.

Gemini New Moon for May 25, 2017---Confusion, Chaos, & Enthusiasm

The words to Diana Ross' song, "Mahogany" filter through my brain as I look at the Gemini New Moon (2017) chart. Do we know where humanity is going now? I look at this chart and I feel like we have lost our way. We say one thing and act out of integrity with our words. Prior to the current regime in the US, I encountered kindness and peace more often. Now, I feel like someone tossed in the monkey wrench.

This New Moon chart includes two T-Crosses (one Mutable and the other Cardinal). First, we have sun and moon in the Mutable Sign of the Twins. When the twins are acting in tandem we expect harmony, coordination and some humor tossed in. But when the twins are acting like the push-pull animal from the movie "Doctor Doolittle" we're in big trouble. This new moon is troublesome to say the least. It's not as confusing or disorienting as the exact Saturn-Neptune squares we encountered in 2016, but it's up there in the ranks.

First, if you consider Chiron a formidable player (like I do), then Chiron pulls into a T-Cross with Saturn in Sagittarius and Mars in Gemini. Chiron plays the role of the apex which means that we're not going to slip past our childhood wounds and solve world problems. In order to heal all this aggression playing out on the planet we must heal our inner and deepest wounds. Mars speaks of childhood in this equation, especially childhood for boys or our male sides and Chiron represents the wounded healer always. Saturn in Sagittarius tells us to find solace in the higher mind, but we have the higher mind battling the inner child. Many of us still think that anger is not spiritual and throwing tantrums definitely kicks us out of the spiritual arena. We hear a lot of time outs at this point.

Yet, if we don't heal those hurts from long ago, we actually can't move forward. We attract more narcissists into our lives that remind us of the original ones who harmed us. And I can tell you from experience that the only way out of this hell is to return to the original wound and release it and forgive those involved with it. Don't do that baby boomer routine and keep creating more drama around childhood. I mean, many baby boomers are now in their early 70s and they are still hanging on to that trash from long ago. Toss it out already. And if you're not one of those people doing this, congratulations. Will you please wake up others from your generation. Let's get past blame, see the situation for what it is, release the pain and move forward.

Now, we have another T-Cross which includes Venus and Pallas in Aries opposing Jupiter in Libra and squaring Pluto/Juno in Capricorn. Pluto and Juno play the role of the apex in this situation. And what I see here is a male versus female dynamic playing out. I see the female warrior going to battle instead of paving the way for peace. I guess the message here is that we sometimes have to go to battle in order to have peace, especially when we're dealing with that tiresome patriarchal control and manipulation. Both men and women have had enough of that macho posturing. We forget that men also suffer under those macho regimes. So let's dis this idea that men don't cry and it's not pretty or ladylike for a woman to rage in anger.

Certainly, I don't advocate getting stuck in anger. However, anger is a higher emotion than depression, helplessness, or despair. If we choose to climb up the vibrational scale we must spend some time processing anger. Denying that we feel anger at this juncture in history is ridiculous. This reminds me of a woman I met at a spiritual event who boasted to me that she was enlightened already because she read Eckhart Tolle's book. Yeah, right. And this is not a time for spiritual smugness or self-righteousness because that just blocks the way to bringing true light into the world.

Now, we do have some flowing aspects in this chart I want to point out. First, we have a trine with Uranus in Aries and Saturn in Sagittarius. And Uranus also sextiles Mars. This is confusing however because Saturn opposes Mars (Mutable T-Cross). So we experience chaos, confusion, and enthusiasm along with hope. It's a mixed bag.

Then on top of that a Yod with Jupiter, Mercury in Taurus and Neptune in Pisces (wide yod) slows energy down, especially since Mercury is in the slow sign Taurus. This yod reminds us that we all need  time out to breathe, dream, and find balance in our lives--not an easy fete when the sun and moon are dancing in Gemini--a very busy and multitasking sign.

So here is my breakdown for each of the Zodiac Signs beginning with Aries and ending with Pisces: (Energy Starts with the Gemini New Moon on May 25).

Aries--Of all the signs, you require a time out during this new moon. Normally, the Gemini New Moon bodes well with you. However, with Venus, Pallas, and Uranus in your sign there are too many feminists waving red flags and sounding the battle cry. It's like women have suddenly turned into Joan of Arc and they're crashing against the castle walls. Beware of a woman's scorn. She's pissing mad and fired up with Saturn and Uranus in flowing aspect.

Taurus--Oh, you poor bulls. What happened to that relaxing time you were enjoying? Just when you thought you reached a peaceful agreement with your neighbors, they're at it again. It is best to stay away from hotheads and tend to your garden instead. Cool your jets by spending time in nature or with your favorite animals. People aren't your favorite creatures during this new moon.

Gemini--You feel like a nervous wreck trying so hard to get people to see your point. But what is your point? You're wavering and waffling has us feeling confused. It's best for you to pay attention to details now and take a break from multitasking. Better yet, stay clear of social media this week and head to the beach instead. Go and have some fun. Otherwise, you will experience exhaustion from argumentative people.

Cancer--With that Cardinal T-Cross, you feel like hiding in a cave. You feel like your personal values are under attack and they probably are seen as too old fashion. Pluto challenges you to focus on your transformation into higher priests and priestesses. Reread the Persephone myth since this myth's messages apply to you at this time. Jupiter asks you to regain your balance and Venus/Pallas ask you what is worth fighting for. Only you know the answer to this question. Fighting for your children's future is a good start.

Leo--With the North Node now in your sign, you feel like everything is fated. You wonder why people want to fight with each other and the tension causes you to roar. The world is full of drama and it's not the kind you enjoy. You just want everyone to mellow out and love each other. You're another sign that will find refreshment at a beach during this new moon. Chill.

Virgo--Not again. Didn't we go through these scenarios last year? Now, that the North Node has left Virgo, you're off the hook. But you feel like Florence Nightingale rushing around handing out healing balm to all those Pisces types and massaging the nerves of Gemini and Sagittarius types. Don't forget to nurse your own wounds. And if you work as a social worker or nurse, remind yourself to breathe and take breaks.

Libra--Usually having Jupiter in your sign means that you experience a bounty. However, with Jupiter opposing your planet Venus and that hotheaded Pallas and Pluto casting shadows on your life, you wish Jupiter would hurry up and enter Scorpio. However, you find relief by learning to say "no" and set strong boundaries. You find balance and peace when you practice self-love and send the narcissists packing. Good luck, Libra.

Scorpio--The Fixed Signs are almost off the hook with the Gemini New Moon. Except that the North Node is now transiting in Leo, a Fixed Sign. It's best that you go inward and reflect on fate versus free choice. Even when destiny calls, you can answer with a no. If you answer yes, then you get to go on a wild adventure that transforms your soul. Scorpio, will you take up the gauntlet?

Sagittarius--It's challenging enough having Saturn still in your sign. And now you also have Chiron and Mars to deal with. You spend too much time gambling your life away or taking foolish risks. And now Saturn is putting on the brakes and asking you to take a more mature approach. Your integrity is at stake. Will you risk harming your reputation by shoving your wounds under a rug or will you muster the courage to face those childhood wounds and finally grow up?

Capricorn--You're asking when Pluto will finally leave your sign? And my answer to you is not until 2024 (which is 7 years from now). And now lovely Juno is pairing up with Pluto reminding us to take care of the home front. Have you been neglecting the home in favor of your career or business? And where does your spiritual pursuits fit into the picture? Jupiter is asking you to find balance in your life. Venus and Pallas are asking you to protect your feminine side by nurturing it. Your intuition is shooting through the roof. Please listen to your inner voice because it holds the truth for you on your path.

Aquarius--Out of all the signs, you are the only one that is going to enjoy the Gemini New Moon. You feel like digging into new topics and reading the latest books, especially the obscure ones that are independently published. You take your friends to far-out movies and hang out at rallies. You appear on Ted Talks or in other lecture halls. Aquarius you have something to say and now is the time to act in a verbal manner even if you feel like an awkward professor who can't find where he last put his glasses.

Pisces--Dear, sweet, Pisces, you feel like everyone is picking on you and using words as their weapons. And it's true that the Gemini types are coming at you with scathing words. They enjoy playing with words that make you squirm or leave you in shambles. This will pass. And really what's happening is that those words lead you to your deepest wounds, your addictions, and your codependent behaviors. It's time to heal yourself, Pisces and polish your armor. And only then will you feel strong enough to love the world and explore Unity Consciousness.

Pluto RX--Taming the Monster in our Minds (April 20 until September 28), 2017

Remember that this year we need to resolve those old wounds hiding out in our subconscious minds. And when Pluto goes retrograde from April 20 until September 28, 2017, we have the opportunity to clear up our patterns and beliefs. This is a fabulous window to delve into our deep subconscious, return to those childhood wounds and liberate ourselves.

When Pluto goes retrograde we don't experience one huge transformational experience after another. We also find that others have less control and power over us. The oligarchs take a breather. The six month period allows us to sort and sift over the events from the past six months. When any planet goes retrograde we focus less on the outer world and spend more time in our hearts and minds. We get a grasps on why we endure so many dark nights of the soul. And we also realize that much of what we found insufferable was unnecessary if only we had done the clearing work.

When Saturn goes retrograde we review the structure of our life. When Mercury goes retrograde we get caught up on communication, clear up misunderstandings from previous Mercury RX periods; when Venus goes retrograde we revisit our values and see how they might have changed. When Pluto goes retrograde we revisit our sense of empowerment and how we wield or don't wield our personal power in the world. It is a time to reflect in how we give our power away to others and then to stop those behaviors.

When Mars goes retrograde we tend to take care of any part of our physical health or emotional health where we don't feel optimal. It's also a good time to get iron levels checked and tone up on those muscles (along with Saturn RX or direct). When Uranus goes RX life can get boring if we enjoy sudden and abrupt changes. I personally enjoy Uranus retrograde because I get tired of the surprises and sudden changes. When Neptune goes RX it's time to heal addictions and codependent behaviors, and similar to Pluto RX, to reclaim our personal power or at least, spiritual center.

So what will you do with Pluto RX? Will you do the necessary work or will you deny that any work needs to get done? Will you reclaim your personal power or act out of fear by controlling others? Micromanaging others is not a good skill to have even if some people think that it is. And we really don't want to micromanage ourselves either because that leaves God out of the picture. That's actually another way of denying personal power since we co-create with God.

If you find yourself giving your power away, congratulations. You have discovered what holds you back and you can begin the clearing work. Many of us feel Pluto as we fear the reaper. And Pluto is the god of the Underworld. Pluto represents those areas of our lives where we experience death and rebirth. Where in your chart is your Natal Pluto? And where is transiting Pluto in your chart? These are the areas most affected by a Pluto RX period or a Natal Pluto RX.

Scorpio Full Moon on May 10, 2017--Passionate Outbursts and Manifestations

We will finally see relief from the Uranus square with Pluto during the Scorpio Full Moon. However, we will still experience a Cardinal T-Cross that involves Pluto in Capricorn, Venus and the asteroid Pallas in Aries and Jupiter RX at 14 degrees Libra. The opposition with Jupiter and Pallas is exact which again, brings up the Divine Feminine and this time in the guise of Kali (Indian Goddess of Creation and Destruction).

Venus is transiting in her opposite sign, that of a warrior (Mars/Aries) so she's either all fired up or playing a passive-aggressive role. Venus opposes Jupiter which is in the sign of Venus, Libra. So we experience a tug-of-war between our masculine and feminine sides of humanity. We seek balance. Pluto in Capricorn which goes about destroying structures or overpowers us with new laws or oligarchs posing as democratic leaders tosses in the wrench. On one hand, Pluto in Capricorn is our salvation if we reclaim our personal power. On the other hand, Pluto in Capricorn can also overpower us and leave us feeling like helpless victims. Yet, if we get our act together we can also seek justice for any wrongs against us, especially if we are women.

The asteroid Pallas represents the female warrior anyway and here she transits in the sign of the warrior (Aries). Pallas catches up to hotheaded Uranus in Aries at the end of May and beginning of June where she will kick up dust. Women will fight for their individual and collective rights. I especially see this playing out in the United States, in West Africa, and the Middle East. I see this happening in various Asian countries too. And the question for us to ask ourselves is how can we fight for justice and usher in the Age of the Divine Feminine and Divine Masculine. We don't want to leave out the masculine side even if we feel harmed by the patriarchs.

However, like any see-saw, we go heavily to the other side before we achieve true balance. And women in general, are feeling fighting mad at this point. Pallas in Aries suggests a Joan of the Arc type warrior here. This is a woman who hears the voice of God and channels that voice into action, requiring a great deal of bravery. The Full Scorpio Moon also represents Kali as I mentioned earlier. And for those of you not familiar with this Hindu Goddess, I'm including an image.

Also on the feminine side of this full moon, the Scorpio Moon forms a trine with Neptune in Pisces and also Chiron. This tells me that us women need to go deep for healing at this time. Pay attention to dreams and fleeting images. Also feel your intuition shooting through the roof. In addition, with Saturn trining Uranus once again, we have a boost of energy in the form of enthusiasm.

The Air Trine with Mars in Gemini and Jupiter in Libra bring out our masculine sides which show up more in words, language, and speeches than in action. We see a lot of thinking or deep thought around law and justice. We hear a lot of men and women waxing philosophy or we just hear a lot of complaining about the lack of justice in the world. Both Libra and Gemini have a tendency to talk out both sides of the mouth and act in a passive-aggressive way, more so with Libra energy. I also want to point out that Mercury (ruled by Gemini and Virgo) conjuncts Uranus so we either hear a lot of heated arguments or hear brilliant ideas that bring solutions (suddenly or in a flash).

Juno and the Taurus Sun are in flowing aspect which has us looking at agriculture and food distribution. We also look at issues around the home and with mothers. Some of us see our mother in a Kali-like way especially if we either suffered childhood abuse at the hands of a dominant yet creative mother (think drama queen) or we grew up with powerful no-nonsense mothers (high-powered women such as Hilary Clinton).

Scorpio, Taurus, Leo, and Aquarius feel this full moon the strongest. You resist the flow of energy from the moon and sun. Remember, however, that change is inevitable and if you don't go with the flow you end up with health problems with the joints and possibly the heart. Tradition is one thing, and survival of the planet is another. Gemini, Virgo, Pisces, and Sagittarius, you still have Neptune, Chiron, and Saturn transits to contend with plus Mars in chatty Gemini. Think before you speak now. While you are itching for a change other people aren't and they are fearful of change. Therefore, they could react violently towards you if you use ill-placed words.

Finally, Capricorn, Libra, Aries, and Cancer you want to push your values on others, especially around power, politics, and economics. Refrain from doing this. Remember that the world consists of many realities and yours is not the one everyone marches to. I understand that you want peace in the world and you think you have to do this through controlling others. Only controlling others or micromanaging people will backfire. Go with the flow. If you feel that you have to control others, turn into your Higher Wisdom and balance that with your ego. It is crucial that you do so.

Mercury Retrograde in Taurus/Aries---Slow Down and Pay Attention to Details

Just like people fear the reaper they also fear Mercury retrograde. So, take a few deep breaths and realize that Mercury is a small, personal planet, which is actually doing us a favor during a retrograde. And Mercury goes retrograde around three times a year for about three weeks. Last year, we experienced four retrogrades of Mercury.

When Mercury moves too far ahead of the sun we actually experience an imbalance. Our identity and the way we communicate it gets muddled. We lose sight of our projects and stop paying attention to details or we fail to see the bigger picture as we plow through the life experience. We lose touch with people or we don't communicate clearly even when Mercury is at full speed and moving direct. So we get a time-out where the sun and Mercury align once again.

This is why we must slow down and pay attention when Mercury is in retrograde motion. And believe it or not, some people don't have issues with this phase of Mercury or any planet going retrograde because their lives are in balance. If you can be in the here and now rather than zooming into the future or waxing nostalgia for the past, then Mercury retrograde is no big deal. In fact, you might even enjoy this time-out to get caught up on paperwork, to edit manuscripts, to revisit a problem and actually solve it and to make corrections on any agreements that you signed during a previous Mercury retrograde. It's a good time to get out of contracts and leases, especially if you have flowing aspects to Jupiter which is currently transiting in Libra.

Mercury goes retrograde at 4 degrees Taurus on April 9. It travels back into Aries on April 20 and transits to 24 Aries on May 3. And then goes direct on May 4. Mercury transits back into Taurus on May 17. So, the first part of this retrograde will seem slower and almost as if communication has been mired. This is for two reasons. Taurus has slow plodding energy and Mercury is stationary and slower at the beginning of a retrograde. It feels like a bumpy ride or riding a road bike on a country road filled with potholes if that gives you an image or feeling.

For some of you, Mercury transits in two of your Natal Houses. And for those of you who have Taurus intercepted in an Aries House, you will experience this transit in one large house. Look at your chart to see where this retrograde takes place. Use my astro cheat sheet to look up themes of those houses or house. This will give you an idea of where communication and technology are muddled in our life. This is where you must provide clarity and pay attention to details.

I'm offering short readings for the Mercury Retrograde where we observe this transit in your Natal Chart. This is a half-hour reading or short e-mailed report for $50. I only look at the Mercury RX. We can do this by Skype (Fridays only) or I can send you a report and chart. I will have more availability for Skype the last week of April. I look forward to helping you to balance with this retrograde. I can also do the same offer for the Saturn RX (separate from the Mercury RX reading).
