Gemini Full Moon for December 6, 2014--Power of Words

So often we use words like weapons.  We have heard the saying that the pen is mightier than the sword, but so is the tongue.  During this Full Moon in Gemini speak with honesty and gentle kindness.  It is a time to use healing words.  And think before you speak, but speak from the heart.  If this sounds like a riddle, welcome to the Gemini Full Moon.

Perhaps you're like me and you enjoy gazing at the Moon.  Last night, I marveled at the beauty of the waxing Taurus Moon.  This moon offers us a time to rest before the Gemini Full Moon.  We rest our minds, rest our throats and nervous system. And this is a good thing since the Gemini Full Moon on December 6 opposes Mercury and the Sun in Sagittarius while squaring Chiron in Pisces (Mutable T-Cross).  Then the Moon sextiles Jupiter in Leo later the same day.

I have a vision of words flying and often hitting their mark. But depending on the words, whether they are loving or cutting, will have lasting results.  So if we choose to keep peace with our friends, colleagues and neighbors, remember the power of words, especially when those words are often laced with childhood wounds (Chiron square).  Ask yourself what's really going on?And if someone upsets you, is he or she just pushing a button that opens a childhood wound?

And don't just practice mindfulness with verbal communication, also take a few deep breaths and edit your e-mails before you send those out.  And in this day of instant messaging, texting, and social media updates, watch your words.  If you want to learn more about the secret power and not so secret power of words read Sharon Klingler's "Power Words" which you can find on Hay House.

And speaking about the power of words, now is a good time for positive affirmations, mantras, and using words in mindful spiritual practice.  Listen to music that uplifts you that features encouraging words.  I can think of a few popular songs that can get you started such as "I Have Confidence in Me" from The Sound of Music, "Phenomenal Woman" sung by Ruthie Foster and written by Maya Angelou or "Ma Vie en Rose" by Edith Piaf or what about "It's a Wonderful World" by Louis Armstrong?  All those songs contain power words.  You can also go for humor, but keep it clean.  Cutting other people down in the name of humor is just another form of self-righteousness.

Well, enjoy the Gemini Full Moon.  Play scrabble, have fun with words, write poetry, write articles, but stay away from arguments, gossip and superficial banter.  And don't believe advertisements because it's usually full of hot air exaggeration and more so now with Mercury in Sagittarius. Don't use words for the sake of sounding witty.  A master speaks from the heart.
