New Moon in Capricorn/Winter Solstice (December 21)--Talking Business

Wikipedia
The New Moon at 0 degrees Capricorn, coinciding with the Solstice (December 21), has some of us getting down to business (most likely completing projects from the past year), and others getting back to old fashion family values as we experience the holiday season.

In addition we experience a Capricorn triple conjunction with Venus, Mercury and Pluto at 12 degrees squaring Uranus in Aries.  And the Moon and Sun conjunct Mercury (6 degrees). We could see a lot of father figures suppressing youth with the attitude, "This is for your own good."  Is this an episode from Father Knows Best or autocratic behavior.  Some of us aren't going to like feeling treated like a child and will rebel (Uranus in Aries).

First planetary business of December 21st includes Venus in Capricorn forming a sextile with Chiron in Pisces, then before the Sagittarius Moon goes void-of-course (4:34 a.m. PST), it forms a fire trine with Jupiter in Leo giving us a burst of enthusiastic can-do energy.  Uranus goes Direct later in the day, followed by the Sun moving into Capricorn at 3:03 p.m. (PST), the Moon arriving in Capricorn two and half hours later and the New Moon occurs ten minutes later.

So what this looks like to me is that we begin our day on a fiery enthusiastic start, feel foggy for the middle period and then sober up by the later hours, especially around the Solstice.  Where I live in the Northern Hemisphere, I honor the Winter Solstice usually by walking a labyrinth in the south part of the city.  I also honor the creatures that I see in my walk through the park and honor the bare naked trees as they sleep until spring when new life appears.

Since the New Moon occurs at 0 degrees Capricorn, it begins a new and powerful cycle. Some people might want to drink while the Moon is either in Sagittarius or void-of-course before the New Moon.  And if you are one of those people, drink only one or two glasses at the most of alcohol, otherwise, you'll experience one heck of a hangover when the Moon sobers up in Capricorn.  Also you don't want to begin this New Moon cycle with a foggy brain.

This powerful New Moon is perfect for getting a business in order, for developing relationships with customers or clients with lasting results and for even launching a new business (just watch out for the Uranus-Pluto Square and the Capricorn Moon's aspects to both Uranus (square) and Pluto (conjunction).  (We do get a reprieve from the Uranus-Pluto square when Pluto moves one degree the last 4 days of December meaning we won't experience the exact square on New Year's Eve).

Securing more harmonious family relationships is encouraged now too.  Many of us have gone through transformation to the point where we have lost our footing and even lost sight of our roots.  While we are essentially reborn as new people, our family of origin might not understand this transformation and treat us as the people we once were.  This could cause stressful situations because we want to grow and anchor in our new selves and while everyone has gone through some shade of transformation, not everyone has this awareness.  Therefore, I ask that you assert yourself in a gentle way.  For instance, if you recently became vegetarian and you show up at a family dinner where the roast is the centerpiece, refrain from going into a lecture about a plant-based diet.  Trust me, old fashion values will trump any progressive ideals at this time.

Own your choices and stick by them, but don't push others to change and understand that they have some catching up to do with you and this isn't going to happen during the holidays.  Save those talks for the slower part of 2015.  For now, smile and let insults or snipes to roll of your back.  Understand that people come from a fearful conservative place with this New Moon.  People and the media wax on about family values now and you might see so many Norman Rockwell paintings that you can barely control your gagging reflex.

Take heart though because those images can also trigger deep childhood wounds, especially from events that occurred near the holiday seasons of the past.  Don't ignore these emotions, lovingly release them and forgive yourself and others.  Venus in Capricorn which forms a sextile with Chiron helps us to do this healing and many of the emotional wounds which show up in the body as dis-ease also have a chance of healing now.  Then later when the Moon conjuncts Pluto, more stuff surfaces from the subconscious also asking for healing and release.

Since the Solstice (for the Northern Hemisphere at least) brings more light in each day we can think of this light as a healing force that we shine on our patterns, beliefs and fears.  This Solstice let the light in no matter where you reside in the world.  Happy New Moon and may you grow and prosper just like those Star Trek characters.

  1. These transits are more powerful than I predicted. If anger or other strong emotions come up, find ways to diffuse the emotions and look for the wound underneath. Be kind and nurture yourselves now.
