Uranus Square Natal Uranus (Don't Resist The Awakening)

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

With so much emphasis on Uranus in Taurus and the awakening that's occurring with the financial markets, the Earth, and our personal values, I started thinking about the Uranus squares with Natal Uranus for people born with Uranus in Leo or Aquarius. We know that squares bring inner tension but this inner tension affects large swaths of people born during a seven year period when Uranus was in Aquarius and Leo. So, playing with the themes of Leo, Aquarius, and Taurus, here's are the potentialities of the Uranus Square with Natal Uranus.

Let's start with Uranus in Taurus squaring Uranus in Leo. If you were born from August 1955 and August 1962 (possibly other times when Uranus was dipping in and out of Leo), then, your main conflict is with self-care versus self indulgence. This could even refer to hedonistic behaviors when coming from the ego. The higher consciousness of this square is to live on the Earth harmoniously while engaging in the senses in a healthy way. The higher state of Uranus in Taurus squaring Natal Uranus in Leo is expressed with generosity of the heart. It's about sharing wealth instead of hoarding it.

The other theme that comes up is around insecurity to shine in the world or getting weighed down by opulence such as living in a gilded palace and not taking on a leadership role that would better humanity. The original Buddha comes to mind, but he chose the higher state of this energy (I don't know his Natal Chart) or he could be an example of a higher state who found melded into higher consciousness after experiencing extreme wealth and then poverty (all states of consciousness).

But in referring to feeling insecurity to shine also refers to how the Natal Uranus in Leo person was raised as a child and also from the values he or she picked up from peers (with Natal Uranus in Leo) and teachers. He or she might have failed in art or music classes as a child or criticized too harshly for having a playful side to them. If they suffered punishment or chastisement for revealing their authenticity then they would adopt the lower consciousness of Natal Uranus in Leo which would be an obsession with riches and fame as an act of revenge, "See, I'll show them."

Or they might have a longing to paint, sculpt, act, or perform music but deny themselves the opportunities to pursue creative outlets because they fear ridicule or criticism from others. They might feel that they lack creativity or artistic talent because of situations they endured as children. Or perhaps, they grew up in homes that favored pragmatism and the work ethic as opposed to "frivolous pursuits" which would get them nowhere in life.  So, this Natal Uranus in Leo person lives a humdrum existence working at a job they despise rather than to manifest the dream.

They might criticize other artists or become an art critic (even though that is also a creative outlet, writing). They might gossip about celebrities in the arts or resent their children for having artistic talent. Or worse yet, they become stage parents of their children and live vicariously through their offspring--think of the mothers who push their young children into modeling or movie acting at too young an age. Or they put heavy makeup on their toddlers and parade them around in fashionable clothing to grab attention from others. Personally, I cringe when I witness that.

So, since 2019, when Uranus transited into Taurus, any Natal Uranus in Leo person who has been walking on the lower consciousness road of this transit is receiving an inner nudge from transiting Uranus in Taurus to awaken. Since Leo is, in my opinion, the ruler of the ego (along with Aries), this Uranus square is showing up as disruptive Earth or financial events. These folks might become victims of earthquakes, catastrophic weather, or financial crashes (last time Uranus was in Taurus was from June 1934 to May 1942) or war.

But what I think is happening is that the Earth and Gaia consciousness are asking them to live more lightly on the planet. The message revolves around stepping away from any gilded situations or self-preservation that comes in the form or resistance to exploring true authenticity. Another wake up call happens with careers if those careers are not in alignment with Mother Earth or keep the person away from experiencing all their senses in a natural and holistic way.

Health wise, this shows up with heart disease, thyroid issues, as well as, diabetes if they have been overindulging in foods, especially sweet and fatty foods. They might be asked to experiment with herbalism and to take yoga classes so that they step back into their physical bodies. They might sign up for a coaching program to help them reengage with their creative self, the one they abandoned in childhood. They might feel a sudden urge to garden or to plant vegetables or to take cooking classes. Or they might volunteer to work with larger animals at a sanctuary.

Since Uranus is currently transiting in Taurus and will do so until April 26, 2026 when Uranus transits into Gemini, this group of Natal Uranus in Leo people are experiencing these wake up calls during this time. For those with earlier degrees of Uranus in Leo (first 12 to 15 degrees) the process is already underway or completed. This is a time of sudden growth or evolution. Uranus represents lighting bolts and tower moments. The changes that occur now are irreversible and much needed.

However, since Leo and Taurus are Fixed Signs, those folks walker on the lower consciousness path will go through these changes by kicking and screaming. They will resist, rebel, and try to negotiate their way out of the events and situations brought on by this transit. These situations and events seem like they are coming from the outer world but they are boiling over from inner tension caused by the Uranus-Uranus square. Uranus always brings revolutions and those will also occur in the outer world and on a global level. It's the micro showing up as the macro, but the changes start with each individual with the Uranus-Uranus square.

And if these folks master this square, their next Uranus transit will be a sextile with Uranus in Gemini. That will feel like a reward. Then when they reach 84 years of age, they experience the Uranus-Uranus conjunction which bring the ultimate liberation. This is why we witness people in their 80s dying their hair purple, or doing something that might seem out of character to those people closest to them. They might also act like spoiled brats if they are stuck in lower consciousness.

Natal Uranus in Aquarius

Uranus was in Aquarius (it's own sign) from February 1912 until January 1920 and more recently, the spring of 1995 until March 2003. The people born between spring of 1995 and 2003 are part of the Millennial Generation or the second half of this generation with 2003 bordering Generation Z. These were the children born during the height of the high-tech boom and many weren't introduced to analog technology. They also grew up with the Internet (which was given to the public in 1994).

Uranus in Aquarius doubly rules technology, brain and neurological science, artificial intelligence, sound therapy, energy-healing, astrology, geniuses, and anything we deem Aquarian. I doubt there are many people still alive who were born between 1912 and 1920 as they would be 102 and older. That group would have experienced their Uranus Return from 1995 (1996) until 2003. And it would be interesting to hear any of their life stories.

This was the post Edwardian Period for the English Empire and I've also seen it called the Progressive Era. Isn't that a coincidence since Aquarius is the most progressive of the Zodiac Signs? This is also the era of WW1 and the Bolshevic Revolution in Russia. This was the continuation of the Industrial Revolution which began during the Victorian Era and the first automobile among other inventions came out of this era. Since it was ruled by Aquarius, I imagine it was also an age of science, math, and geniuses. And it was an era of in between two great wars.

So, what happens when Natal Uranus in Aquarius people experience the square with Uranus in Taurus? I feel that they grapple with their conscience in regard to the damages caused to the Earth by technology. I feel that these folks experience heightened cognitive dissonance than other humans and if they are walking the path of higher consciousness then they will find ways to use technology to heal the planet such as the young man who came up with an invention to clean plastic from the oceans. And they will invent materials that we can compost instead of toss into a landfill.

The ones walking the path of higher consciousness are planting trees, hugging trees, and talking to trees. They are the creators of weird science. On the more tragic note, many of the members of this group have been diagnosed with mental illness, personality disorders, or autism (even when they are just different and not autistic). They have been used as guinea pigs for mad science instead of sane science. They have been over medicated, fed GMO food, and had to endure helicopter parents (I had just the opposite experience born with Uranus in Virgo).

Transiting Uranus which brings them their first Uranus-Uranus square at a time when the planet is undergoing destruction from the technology humanity has created for the past 100 plus years. The ones with a conscience will find ways to rectify the damage caused to the Earth. The ones without a conscience or living below a veil of consciousness, will opt for more destructive technology such as artificial intelligence and flying cars.

This group could also stir political and economic revolutions, especially when they experience the transit of Uranus in Gemini which trines Uranus in Aquarius. They might also become publishers of new print media and launch more open source forums and social media platforms. They will also offer more software for free as a rebellion to the multi-billion dollar transnational corporations and telecom companies. They might even usher in a time of telepathic communication so that everyone ditches the cell phones and the cell towers. But this won't happen until Uranus is in Gemini.

Final Words

Transiting Uranus squaring Natal Uranus is a time of tension and personal upheaval. But most of this shows up as inner turmoil. It's not a big event as Transiting Uranus opposing Natal Uranus which ushers in the midlife crisis. It is a time of great awakening but this all must be viewed with all the transits in the chart in mind.

While these Uranus squares affect large swaths of people even sub-generations, each individual experiences his or her awakening in their own unique way. And hopefully, it leads to authenticity and being able to shine their light in the world. Despite the irritation caused by the square it is an evolutionary and a revolutionary time for the people experiencing the square. It's not a time to grow up say what we experience with a Saturn Return, but it's a time to awaken to a true calling and to make a difference on the planet. 

Uranus rules the collective and not the individual. It's about manifesting the greatest good for all.
