Venus in Gemini--Flirtation with the Mind, Wit, and Highbrow Humor

Before I write this post, I have to say that traffic to this blog is dismal. This used to be a popular blog and the information is still relevant. When I was born decades ago, Venus was retrograde in Gemini. Not only that, and my Natal Mars was also in Gemini so this brought out highbrow flirtation and fickleness on my part. Why settle for one steady beau when I could flirt with many? I was also a tomboy in my youth, preferring to hang out with the neighborhood boys instead of the girls who abandoned me when they found a new best girlfriend to pal around with.

My first boyfriend was a Gemini (I admired his drummer arms and large hands), and I stuck with the Mutable signs for the first part of my dating years. Later, I branched out to get involved with one Aries man (never again) and then a Scorpio man (never again). I prefer to keep things light and talk a lot about the things that matter, that if they even comprehend those things. I don't enjoy competitive men or men that sulk and keep secrets from me. Venus in Gemini women are similar to Pandora of the Greek myth.

The reason why I'm bringing this personal story up is that Venus goes retrograde in Gemini this May for five weeks. Venus will stay in this Mutable Air sign for 4 months and normally, Venus just races through a single sign lasting usually three to four weeks, depending on whether she is returning after a retrograde. So, we're all going to feel fickle and not just with the opposite sex (this will be especially valid with heterosexual men looking for their ideal woman) and we will additionally be fickle with our values. It will seem like people are speaking out both sides of their mouths. We will feel bored unless we have a topic that we're curious about and can research. We definitely want to learn new subjects, even on a superficial level. We also obsess over women journalists.

I remember one man who had his Natal Venus placed in Gemini mentioning that he had a radio show because he loved hearing his voice. I one had a community radio show and I admit the same. I loved hearing my voice through that silky microphone and good mixing board. I have also made my livelihood as a journalist so I've done my share of interviews with filmmakers, artists, musicians, nutrition experts, architects, city planners, metaphysical practitioners, and others. The biggest challenge I faced (and this is embarrassing) was listening to the subjects rather than talking over them. This is a problem for people with the Sun, Mercury, the Moon, Mars, or Venus in Gemini.

And while this Venus transit in 2020 is mostly a drag, we can also have fun with it. Refrain from gossiping and criticizing others. Refrain from knowing it all because no one knows it all unless you are tapping into the collective consciousness or Source and then you are just the phone piece. It won't be a good time (especially during the retrograde) to get cosmetic surgery or even get a haircut unless it's basic and even then, make sure you communicate clearly and that the beautician hears you. I once got my hair cut when the Moon was in Gemini and while it wasn't a total disaster I didn't enjoy the haircut. Hair grows out so that is the least of our worries.

It's also not a good time to settle for a partner if you're dating. It's okay to date but keep it light and don't set up home together until Venus enters Cancer in August. I've seen so many buyer-beware occurrences when Venus is retrograde, especially when it's retrograde in Pisces. It's not a good time to buy a home and it's not a good time for any big purchases. Even purchasing makeup during this time might lead you to toss the colors later. I watched one astrologer tell her subscribers that one time when Venus was retrograde she decided to change her wardrobe. She gave up her black clothing and bought yellow clothing only later to regret her decision.

However, Venus in Gemini has more to do with our minds and our values. We might decide to switch careers because we feel restless. We might cut people out of our lives because we don't think they are smart enough or too slow because we want to engage with people with quick wit as if we're starring in a Shakespeare play. We find ourselves listening to Bob Dylan and other Gemini musicians and poets because we want to listen to words. Words, word games, and board games attract our attention. We also notice whether or not our K-12 education failed us and we could use this time to learn new skills or read books. Personally, my two favorite board games are Trivial Pursuit and Scrabble.

On a more serious note, Venus rules the health of our physical bodies and Gemini rules our minds, lungs, hands, and arms. With a virus that attacks lungs circulating the world, this virus could literally be passed from one person to another through the act of talking or using someone else's phone without disinfecting it. More people could suffer from lung ailments at this time, especially if they smoke or are exposed to smoke from various sources. Allergies are more prominent and asthma sufferers will either experience havoc on their lungs or find a cure through Mother Nature.

The plus side of Venus in Gemini is that we are willing to research cures and Venus can represent natural herbs and cures that come from Gaia. Some people might even decide to return to school and study herbal medicine. As we do research for cures, we share our information on social media and online such as blogs and websites. It's also a good time to connect with healers and experts. Interview them for magazine articles or blogs. We can learn a lot now if we follow our curiosity and see where it leads.

Since Gemini rules authors, along with Sagittarius, authors could use this transit to write and the retrograde to edit and revise (similar to when Mercury is RX). Our values might change and we might ditch a project in favor of a new one. However, during the retrograde, it is best to return to an old project. And if you are moving house, return to an area where you lived previously.

So, here is the breakdown of the Venus in Gemini Transit:

Venus transit into Gemini on April 4

Venus trines Mars in Aquarius for the entire month of April

Venus trines Saturn until April 9 (exact on April 5)

Venus squares Neptune on May 4 (exact)

Venus goes RX on May 13 at 21 degrees Gemini

Venus squares Mars in Pisces on June 3

Venus goes direct on June 25 at 5 degrees Gemini

Venus approaches a sextile with Mars on June 29

Venus squares Neptune RX at 20 degrees on July 27 and 28

Venus transits into Cancer on August 8

Overall, Venus and Mars form flowing aspects except for when Venus squares Mars in Pisces. And another watchful time is when Venus squares Neptune because we fail to see the truth and prefer to get stuck in illusions that haunt us later. Deception is likely when Venus squares Neptune or we discover deceit when Venus squares Neptune RX. Venus square Neptune also brings up lung ailments caused by vaping, smoking, and recreational drug use. Or there could be an addiction to alcohol.

Since Venus is not a slow-moving outer planet or even a transpersonal planet (Jupiter and Saturn), I'm not going to spend more time discussing the transit. I do feel like it can become problematic during the retrograde if we use that time to gossip, get caught up in yellow journalism or conspiracy theories. It's also not a time to show off intellectually since this will turn people off if not wound them. Venus does bring out the snob in all of us.

Our values could shift during this time if we research the subjects that grab our curiosity or take classes (online classes are still possible during this time). We could learn new ways to be kinder to the environment and clean up our air quality. Remember that we all breathe the same air and polluted air will eventually kill all of us.

The signs most affected are Libra, Taurus, and Gemini.

We will feel frustrated if we want to travel to a beautiful place and learn that air travel is still restricted (Saturn in Aquarius). We also become frustrated with the collective which we pit ourselves against. What about what we think? What about us as individuals?
