The Real Aquarius (New Moon in Aquarius on January 24, 2020)

Yes, Virginia, There is an Aquarius Age (And We're in it)
We hear the Aquarius Age mentioned by astrologers and spiritual teachers, but what exactly is the Aquarius Age? I know that Aquarius represents technology, electricity, the electrical current in the body (neurology and the brain), electrical storms, tornadoes, the wind, the ankles, architecture, engineering, the future, space travel, airplanes, and science fiction shows up in the arts. Aquarius rules abstract art, futuristic art, digital photography, digital movies, anything digital as opposed to analog, but even analog has Aquarius elements.

On the more positive side of Aquarius, we discover cures for brain diseases, new ways to farm, we learn about deep space, and we delve into the future via science fiction movies and novels. We also create new forms of alternative housing as well as, alternative energy. We discover the collective and our role in that collective and we get involved with the grassroots.
On the darker side, we focus more on the collective's needs and less on the needs of the individuals. We get so caught up in the brain that we forget about the heart. We detach from emotions and forget to practice compassion. We lose the forest through the trees or the trees through the forest.
We take a practical or logical approach to emotional situations causing more damage to the person who is expressing their emotions. We use technology mindlessly while allowing it to spy on us and cause dangerous electrical currents that damage the cells in our bodies and our nervous system. Aquarius is the coldest of the Zodiac Signs because it has a tendency to detach and to observe.
Ironically, people of this sign see themselves separate from others, even though Aquarius rules the collective along with Pisces. Fortunately, no one is 100% Aquarius since it would be impossible to have all 10 of their planets plus Chiron in Aquarius at the time of birth.
A person with a lot of Aquarius in his chart would be a wonderful brain researcher but a terrible mental health counselor unless he also has prominent Pisces placements in his chart. Aquarius people (Ascendant, Sun, and Moon) tend to think they are smarter than everyone else because this is the sign of a brilliant mind. I imagine since Aquarius energy goes against the grain of society, there might just be a correlation between Aquarius and autism and there is a connection to transgender people along with Scorpio (which rules sexuality). People who live on the fringe or trigger our buttons due to their uniqueness have an Aquarius or a Uranus signature. They can also be strikingly beautiful or handsome as a prominent Aquarius such as an Aquarius Sun or Ascendant or even Saturn provides the individual with a unique body or face.
Aquarius people are unforgettable whether they are in the public arena or in our personal lives. We might hate or love them, but we don't forget them or the lasting impressions they leave upon our lives. Think the late Eva Cassidy who sang popular songs in an unconventional way leaving us with goosebumps. Think James Dean who engaged us with his method acting approach and teen angst. Think Geena Davis in her role in the movie Thelma and Louise or even in The Accidental Tourist.
The reason why I'm delving into Aquarius is that the New Moon on January 24 falls in the sign of Aquarius. And you can learn more about this New Moon in my Astrologer Patricia video on YouTube as well as, Pam Gregory's videos (she is an Aquarius astrologer).
Despite the Aquarius Moon, Capricorn energies dominate the New Moon chart. The asteroid Pallas, the South Node, Jupiter, Saturn, Pluto, and Ceres are transiting in Capricorn. But both Capricorn and Aquarius, in classical astrology, claim Saturn as their ruler. Then, later, after Uranus was discovered, Aquarius had its own planetary ruler. Some astrologers who I read in the past said that Aquarius also has two sides. It's both the iconoclastic party crasher and the conservative businessman, to use to metaphors. So, all this Capricorn energy helps the Aquarius Moon ground its electricity in the same way that we ground the electrical currents in our homes so that we don't experience shock.

This Aquarius Moon is powerful because it is a harbinger of Saturn moving into Aquarius from March 23 until July 3 and then begins its long transit in Aquarius on December 18. Also in December, Jupiter transits into Aquarius on the 21st and forms an exact conjunction with Saturn. We know that Jupiter never puts on the brakes and its always in the expansion mode. Any science fiction book published in December and into 2021 has the potential to become a best-seller and remain on the best-seller list for months, if not years. It could also become a classic.
Whereas, Saturn moves cautiously with its proverbial foot on the brake. Then starting as early as 2023, Pluto transits into Aquarius briefly and then retrogrades back into Capricorn giving us a preview of the transformation that anything Aquarius will experience. We could also become more socialist or even more futuristic as in creating new bottom-up world leadership or maybe even a space confederation as we have seen in science fiction television shows and movies.
Hopefully, the world doesn't turn dystopian and we run around wearing steampunk clothing. Personally, I'm not fond of those long Victorian dresses. Since Aquarius is androgynous, I can wear Victorian trousers. I know one thing, the pop-culture image of the Aquarius Age as seen in the movie and stageplay Hair is not what we'll be experiencing even if people seek freedom to express their authentic selves or on the darker side, fall under the sway of groupthink.
I have a good living example of groupthink. When I was in middle school, a popular gymnast (an Aquarius ) at the school started the fashion trends at our school. The other girls wore the same clothes she did, wore the same make-up, took gymnastic lessons, and even spoke the way she did. There was another girl who was a Leo who bucked the trends. She was the only one not swayed by groupthink and this caused a rift between the Aquarius and the Leo, even though I was friends with both of them. I merely observed them and didn't take sides or engage in any drama. Oddly, the Leo girl ended up studying acting and she performed in the school plays (high school).
Groupthink appears with teens anyway. It appears with any group where people are searching for their authentic selves but do so by latching onto labels and group identities. It's ironic, I know, but it's how many people search for themselves. While we see this mainly with teens, it has affected younger children and even adults. We are a culture of labels for this and that. Labels are only pieces of paper we stick upon our chest and not what ticks in our hearts. But labels help us identify with groups because they need to belong. This New Moon in Aquarius shows us the way to balance our authentic selves and the needs of the collective. None of us are truly lone wolves and we all need to belong somewhere or to someone (sorry, Holly Golightly).
After all, if we don't show up as our soul blueprint in the world how will we achieve our life mission? This is why so many people want to know their life mission. You won't find the life mission by looking outside yourself. You must find it in your heart (Leo). The heart is nothing without the circulation system just like the brain is nothing without the neurological system. This is why brain-heart coherence is so important and taught to us by the Institute of HeartMath Science and teachers such as Gregg Braden. Also, it behooves you to look up the Polyvagal Theory (it's so Aquarius!)
This is all I'm going to say on Aquarius for this article. I'm feeling exhausted because I'm writing this during the Dark Moon. However, if you would like to learn how the transits affect you personally, sign up for a reading. Or you can donate $5 or more and receive my podcast about the real Aquarius Age.
