Exciting Astrological Transits for 2023 (Transcend Suffering by Staying Heart-Centered)

Every year presents us with a different cosmic animal. 2021 was a year filled with anxiety and conspiracies. Then 2022 journeyed through revolutionary energies. 2023 brings hope and optimism in a dream state, but it too presents challenging transits such as the square between Jupiter at 0 degrees Taurus and Pluto at 0 degrees Aquarius during the late spring. Yes, Pluto will dip into a new sign in 2023 and Saturn will transit from Aquarius into Pisces. And there's more. Read on.

We start off 2023 with three planets going direct. Mercury goes direct at 8 degrees Capricorn on January 18, Mars goes direct at 8 degrees Capricorn (forming an inconjunct with Mercury) and on the 22nd, Uranus finally goes direct at 14 degrees Taurus and on the 30th, Mercury forms an Earth Trine with Uranus getting us on steady footing, well, maybe if we align our thoughts and stay grounded. Jupiter which as picked up speed has arrived back in Aries where it will only remain until May 18th. We will have support from the Earth to stay grounded in 2023 but this might seem overly rigid or stuffy at times.

Jupiter-Pluto Square

On May 18th, we experience an exact square between Jupiter at 0 degrees Taurus and Pluto at 0 degrees Aquarius. Pluto transited into Aquarius on March 25 and remains in the sign of the Water Bearer until the planet retrogrades back into Capricorn on June 12th and stays in Capricorn through the remainder of 2023. However, we delve more deeply into the Aquarius Age as we get this Pluto in Aquarius preview. It reminds me of the previews you see at a movie theater or on DVDs. But with Pluto, we see glimpses of what it's 20 year transit that officially begins January 2024 and ends in 2044. Stay tuned.

The square between Jupiter and Pluto might remind us of the Uranus-Saturn Square which also fell in the signs of Taurus and Aquarius and actually that should read, Saturn-Uranus since Saturn is the fastest moving planet of the two and it forms the square with Uranus. Jupiter is the planet of expansion and is known for bringing gifts and blessings to us. But it can also expand events and situations that are unwanted but in the cosmic journey actually bring us closer to the world we want to inhabit. Pluto rules the underworld and takes no prisoners. Pluto has the darkest energy of the planets but also brings us the most powerful transformation through a death and rebirth process.

Pluto breaks down old structures and here it is at 0 degrees of Aquarius so it's looking at bringing integrity to the realms of science and high tech. It might reveal to us a darker future unless we act with integrity because Pluto is going to question the lack of this important attribute mainly in the realms of science and high tech.

Have you ever wondered why so many Aquarius people read science fiction? That's a side note. Don't be surprised if a science fiction blockbuster is on everyone's minds during the spring of 2023 because it will hit too close to the bone. Even people who don't consider themselves science geeks are going to experience goose bumps about this futuristic vision. However, we are always creating our future in the moment so just take the movie's messages as a warning.

Venus in Leo  (RX)

Another powerful transit that begins in the spring is Venus transiting into Leo where she will retrograde and remain in the sign of the proud lion until October 9 when she transits into Virgo. Well, Leo rules the heart, gold, and generosity as well as, creativity and children. And Venus rules beauty, our values, our valuables and currencies. Does this mean that investing in gold is a good idea? I don't know. Maybe. Does this mean that we open our hearts to children and each other? Possibly. Since Venus stays in Leo for several months we have ample time to explore the themes of both Venus and the sign Leo. This will be a great time for artists of any discipline so plan to work on a creative project from June until the beginning of October. You can also beautify your own body. You are art too.

Uranus-Neptune Sextile

In August Uranus catches up to Neptune and forms a sextile with a three degree orb and stays within a 5 degree orb (fluctuating) into December. While we don't see an exact sextile I think this could be a wonky transit. I can't recall the last time Neptune and Uranus formed a sextile except for in the 1960s when Uranus was in Virgo and Neptune was in Scorpio, but don't expect me to come up with exact degrees or dates (I don't get paid enough for that type of research).

This feels a bit like Alice in Wonderland with Neptune's dreamlike state and Uranus bringing sudden awakening. I do feel that more humans can evolve and awaken to higher consciousness during this sextile. But on the negative side we could also see strange movies that disturb us, futuristic visions that frighten us, and more people could become seduced by psychotropic drugs which could lead to irreversible insanity or sudden death as in overdoses. We might also not have our usual grip on reality or what we believe to be reality. Beliefs come under question as does spiritual and religious practices. We could see the emergence of cult leaders as well, on the darker side of this sextile.

Books written and movies produced during this time could shock us with brilliance when they are released for public consumption. We could also witness freakish weather events involving large bodies of water and electrical storms or flash floods with Uranus bringing sudden events having to do with earth and water. We could also use this transit to visualize a better world, especially if we are consistent with this daily practice. With Uranus involved it's hard to say what will manifest.

Saturn in Pisces

The final transit I will mention here is Saturn transiting into Pisces (joining Neptune in this sign) on March 9. Saturn will then begin a retrograde in Pisces on June 17 and then go direct in Pisces at 0 degrees Pisces on November 4. While Saturn in Aquarius took us deeper into the energies of the Aquarius Age, Saturn in Pisces assist us in cleaning up the remnants of the Pisces Age. We also bring discipline and patience to the self-healing process. The dark side of this transit is it dissolves structure and this will seem frightening to many people. They will try to hold on to the old unworkable structures which will cause tension and stress. We also see the decline of many governments on the planet, especially if the nation is ruled by Pisces or has a prominent Neptune or Saturn in its Natal Chart. (We will explore Saturn in Pisces at a later date).
