Cancer Solar Eclipse and Mercury RX in Cancer

Well, this is the time to have a Cancerian Sun, Moon, or Rising Sign, especially if you feel that your life has been stagnating or if you wish to resolve mother issues. That is because the Solar Eclipse and Solstice are at 0 degrees Cancer on June 20-21 (depending on where you are in the world). The entire world is feeling abandoned like a motherless child...but that's about to change.

And prior to this powerful Solar Eclipse, Mercury goes retrograde at 14 degrees Cancer on June 17. And if that's not enough, on June 27, Mars transits into Aries where he will remain for six months and take us into 2021. In addition, let's not forget that Saturn and Jupiter remain in Capricorn until December, and Pluto remains in the sign of the mountain goat until 2024. So, let's break this all down.

First, let's look at the Mercury retrograde in the sign of Cancer (June 17 until July 12). During this slow retrograde, Mercury only travels backward 9 degrees. If you are a Cancerian then this transit will be easier for you than it will be for the other 11 signs. I believe it is going back to and healing childhood wounds revolving around the mother. We are also backtracking for the past 18 months when the North Node was in the sign of Cancer. Haven't we seen more need for nurturing and loving others? Haven't we felt malnourished and sometimes like we are the abandoned children. There have even been moments when I questioned if there is a God or a loving force in the Universe.

During the last degrees of the North Node in Cancer, our governors, and political leaders ordered us (like a mother) to stay home. For some people that felt like house arrest while others understood that we were doing this so that vulnerable people felt safe and secure. However, when the Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse happened, people traded their sense of safety for that of freedom and justice, true to the Sagittarius nature. People were willing to gamble their health in exchange for justice or an ethnic race. And this was made possible by technology that reported on police brutality (the Gemini North Node). True to Gemini's dualistic nature, we are seeing life events in black or white instead of as the rainbow which would be the theme for Pisces and Sagittarius.

On June 20 (where I am in the world), we experience a Solar Eclipse at 0 degrees Cancer. This is most significant because 0 degrees is the beginning of a new cycle and on the Solstice as we enter a new cardinal season. Earlier when I read the energy on this Cancer Solar Eclipse light flooded my Third Eye. In fact, I couldn't see past the bright light which was blocking images for our collective future. I believe this means that the future is unknown and a blank slate meaning we create it.

Cancer rules the mother and the home so I see changes happening with practicing self-care and caring for others. We still care about safety and security and equally so with justice. How is anyone safe if another person's rights are violated by the people who are supposed to keep us safe? When one race is treated with brutality, then we all suffer. There should never be a privileged group, especially when they never actually earned the privileges and were only given them because of the color of their skin or their lineage. Cancer wants to mother everyone's child no matter their background. While Cancer can be clannish and fearful, it is also a sentimental sign that is easily hurt by the brutality of others or when it witnesses someone else in pain. This sign is among the most empathic along with Pisces and Scorpio.

Cancer energy or where it falls in our charts is where we crave safety and security. It represents the areas of our lives which we guard or hide in our shells. I laugh when Sagittarius types criticize Cancer energy since they have it somewhere in their Natal charts. We all have the 12 Zodiac Signs representing areas of our lives and to deny that is to show up with missing parts of our psyche. This is not to say that a Sagittarius person would ever become a homebody unless they have Cancer on the cusp of their 4th House. And a Cancerian with Sagittarius on the cusp of their 4th or 9th houses would enjoy traveling and find a home anywhere there is kind people.

So, we launch the summer with a Solar Eclipse on the day of the Solstice. I can't recall one happening in recent years and I'm guessing this is a rare event. Not only that, 0 degrees Cancer marks a new beginning that is more nurturing and caring than the previous cycle. For instance, the police force is supposed to bring safety and not murder people's children. Yet, the events of recent days are nothing new even if they captured the psyche of people around the world. Black Americans have been discussing violence to their black brothers and sisters (by the police) for years if not decades. This brings us back to images from the Civil Rights Movement in the 1960s when the police sic dogs on black protestors in the American South.

But we're now living in the Aquarius Age where justice and equality are battle cries. Despite a pandemic and the dangers of dying from a virus, people are leaving the safety of their homes and marching on the streets (which were empty for several months in some cities). The Sagittarius Lunar Eclipse blew off the lid of the proverbial boiling pot. The past three and a half years of living under a dictator instead of a president also blew off that lid. Now, with millions of people unemployed and not able to keep roofs over their heads and facing an unknowable future, they have nothing to lose, except possibly their health, by shouting for justice.

Now, we have the Solar Eclipse approaching us followed by a Capricorn Lunar Eclipse on July 4 (the last eclipse in the cycle). And we can also look back to January 10 when we experienced the Cancer Lunar Eclipse followed by the exact conjunction of Saturn and Pluto in Capricorn on January 12 when the pandemic drifted to all corners of the planet except for Antarctica (which seems Capricorn to me). And prior to that, on December 25 of 2019, Jupiter rolled into Capricorn and we experienced the Solar Eclipse at 8 degrees Capricorn (smack on my Ascendant). And really that is the beginning of the pandemic in Wuhan, China (I don't know the Zodiac Sign for this city).

Astrologers predicted a powerful 2020 just based on those aspects alone. Plus, Pluto in Capricorn (transit began in January 2008) hasn't completed its transformation of the world economy (completes this transformation in January 2024). Meanwhile, Uranus is transiting in Taurus causing all of us to question stability, especially of the economic markets. And now, we have the Cancer Solar Eclipse approaching which promises to flood the Earth with light or is that an awakening. It is up to us to shine more light on the dark shadows of the world by integrating our own shadows so that we become holistic.

It is possible that the pandemic ends abruptly with this Cancer Solar Eclipse or at least by the Leo New Moon in July. Just as quickly as the pandemic arrived, it miraculously disappears leaving us an important message. It's time to question everything about how we live on this Earth to our economies and rebuilding sustainable structures. I've noticed many new devices coming on board and people leaving their selfish ways behind, questioning their privileges, and coming up empty. Could it be that we are entering an era of brotherhood and sisterhood? The caveat is not to get caught in groupthink.

Whatever Mercury retrograde and the Cancer Solar Eclipse bring to our doorstep it is long overdue and much welcomed.
