Gemini Full Moon on December 13, 2016--Mixed Blessings

Image
The 2016 Gemini Full Moon which falls on December 13, asks us if we choose to see the glass half full or half empty. We'll remember Charles Dicken's opening to A Tale of Two Cities and also Joni Mitchell's "Both Sides Now". We could feel crazy trying to make a decision because we'll feel we have too many choices. And the best approach is to follow the gray line that falls in between black and white. Why am I telling you this? The Gemini Full Moon chart contains two T-Crosses, a Mystical Rectangle, a Golden Triangle and a Grand Trine. As someone who was born with a Mutable T-Cross and a Grand Water Trine I have jumped back and forth between extremes. I'm not saying that either I or the Gemini Moon are bi-polar, only that we will gaze at opposite forces inside us. So let's break down this chart and see where that leads us. First, we have an on-going T-Cross with Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus/Ceres in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn. Man

Zodiac Sign Spotlight--Sagittarius (November 21 to December 21)

(Prove the stars wrong, Sagittarius because I'm writing and posting this article when the moon is void-of-course in Libra. This means that the post won't experience success). What does Jimi Hendrix have in common with Billy Bragg? And what does Taylor Swift have in common with Miranda Otto and Daryl Hannah? They were all born when the Sun traveled through Sagittarius. Other humans on this list include Pope Francis, Scarlett Johansson, Julianne Moore, Sara Silverman, Tom Waits, Michael Scott of The Waterboys, Ellen Burstyn, Judi Dench, and Jim Morrison, to name a few. And if you have a Sagittarius Sun then you can join the list of folks with strong ideologies, a powerful sense of destiny, globe-trotters, university professors, religious leaders, politicians, and celebrities who boldly share their opinions. You are a member of a rainbow tribe that spans the globe and your mind expands to include diversity. In fact, you thrive on diversity which is why you itch to travel, le

Whole Astrology Forecast for 2017

Image
I don't see any major transits for 2017, but I doubt it is a status quo year. The North Node transits into Leo and Jupiter transits into Scorpio. Eclipses land in Pisces, Leo, and Aquarius so we move more into Fixed energy. Venus retrogrades in Aries and Pisces at the beginning of the year leaving us with a theme of the Divine Feminine. We won't be experiencing any Saturn-Neptune Squares, but we are experiencing Saturn-Chiron squares since Saturn remains in Sagittarius until December. We also won't experience Mars staying for several months in a single sign, as we did in early 2016. I also want us to remember that Uranus will only be in Aries for another two years. That means, we only have two years to shake up the old system so that we can rebuild new structure when Uranus transits into Taurus in 2019, joining a cluster of outer planets in Capricorn. Astrologers are already setting their eyes on 2020 as if it is the beginning of a Golden Age. And it might be if we do

Sagittarius New Moon on November 29, 2016--Things aren't What They Seem

Image
Normally, I love a new or full Sagittarius Moon because it brings out the dreamer or adventurer in us. However, the Sagittarius New Moon that lands on November 29 is full of hot air and deception. The sun and moon square Neptune. And at the same time, Venus in Capricorn squares Uranus in Aries. So this deception plays out in relationships between the masculine and feminine. Use discernment in all dealings, but especially in relationships. If you meet someone new who you would like to date, wait two weeks before asking this person out. Use this time to do spiritual work through meditation and other forms of contemplation. People we meet during the week of this full moon might not pan out. In any case, go slow with anyone you meet and do not throw caution to the wind. With all this Mutable energy we are reminded of the series of Saturn-Neptune squares that we witnessed over the past year. To give you an idea of this powerful Mutable energy, just look at the recent election in the

Cardinals Marching On (Cancer, Capricorn, Libra and Aries)

Image
By Patricia Herlevi Do you have your sun, moon, or Rising Sign in a Cardinal Sign? Do you have several planets in a Cardinal Sign? If you answer yes to any of these questions, then welcome to the Cardinal tribe. You are on the planet to usher in changes, but first, you must face your fears. What does Cardinal energy represent? Think of seasons bursting forth throughout the year. Think of the Solstices and Equinoxes. Think of the power of the moon, the structures Saturn builds, the assertiveness of Mars, and the balancing act of Venus. Cardinal energy also represents the four directions and where we ultimately point our compass. Cardinal energy initiates change, but then the Mutable Signs take it from there and continue the changes until they reach a culmination point, at which time, the Fixed Signs stabilize the new structures. Think of analog photography. The photographer took a photograph by shining light onto negatives. Then the photographer processed the film which create

Taurus Full Moon for November 14, 2016--Fullness & Challenges

Image
I'm not sure if I enjoy the Taurus New or Taurus Full Moon best. The moon is exalted in Taurus and brings a sense of abundance and fullness to our lives. However, every moon is different depending on other transits happening in the moon chart. So let's take a look at this month's Taurus Full Moon which lands on November 14, 2016. Right off the bat, we have a Cardinal T-Cross with Jupiter in Libra opposing Uranus/Ceres in Aries and squaring Pluto in Capricorn. Granted, this is a wide T-Cross, but powerful with three outer planets involved, nonetheless. In this case, Pluto plays the role of the apex so a transformation is at stake. The type of transformation has to do with where transiting Pluto falls in your natal chart via the transit. In this chart set for Seattle, Pluto and Mars transit in the Third House of Communication/Education/Thinking Patterns/Short Distance Travel. This has me wondering if some type of mass transportation or mass communication is triggered.

Whole Astrology--Gaze at US General Election Night Chart

Image
No matter how much I preferred that the months crawled instead of sped up to the General Election in the United States, the election is a few days away. And the chart for the election has some long-running themes in it. First, we have the Uranus-Pluto Square activated by Jupiter in Libra. Neptune and Saturn still play roles and we can expect a surprise on this election.  I set the chart for Seattle at the close of the polls on the west coast of the US. This means that everyone has cast their vote, but the count remains. So let's do a quick run through of this chart. Notice how the planets are appearing on half the chart and it's the half that has to do with partnership and "the other". The North Node however, falls in the Third House of Communication so there is a fateful message at stake. And I feel that the message is coming from the general populace and it is directed at corporate media, big government, and the corporate world that runs the show. The messa

Artist Spotlight--Eva Cassidy (Patron Saint of Obscurity), Part Two

Image
The late Eva Cassidy wasn't just any singer-guitarist. Astrologically-speaking, she has the making of a saint in her birth chart. I believe that many artists have promoted themselves from beyond the grave. And with so many medium-channels on the planet at this time and the fact that we're all channeling to one degree or another, it's not unplausible that any of us can tap into the dead by following what we call synchronicity. Before I get into part two of my Eva Cassidy spotlight, I want to share a story with you. During the fall of 1983, my mother and I were passing through a department store and I came across a section where the store sold electronic keyboards. Now, I first want to say that I have never had any piano lessons and yet, I went into a trance when I placed my hands on an electronic keyboard and someone played music through me. Around two decades later when I was watching the fake documentary, 32 Short Films About Glenn Gould, I heard a man chuckling. I

Artist Spotlight--Eva Cassidy, Patron Saint of Obscurity (Part One)

Image
Wikipedia image Intermediate Astrology  While I was posting my first Artist Spotlight video on YouTube (Helene Grimaud), a black and white photo of the late Eva Cassidy appeared in my feed. Oddly, in my 30 years as an arts journalist, I had not heard of this singer. I saw that the video was for her 1996 cover of "Autumn Leaves," a perennial favorite song of mine. So I clicked on the video thus changing my life... The short biography for Eva is that she learned how to sing and play guitar as a child. Then she became a breath-taking interpreter of classic songs from various genres (mostly emotionally-charged songs). She was shy but she performed on stages in Washington, D.C. and she garnered a loyal following.  She was diagnosed with skin cancer in 1993 and this seemed like it was cured. Cancer returned in 1996 and Eva succumbed to it on November 2, 1996, which also happens to be All Soul's Day. Then through a strange chain of events, Eva's songs make it to En
